First woman to be executed by Tennessee in 200 years

She's scheduled to be executed on September 30. I am against the death penalty in general, but don't think she doesn't deserve it. The victim's mother, if I read correctly, wants a front row seat.

I wonder if the (republican) Governor of TN will grant clemency. I would think not, given the party affiliation.

Abolish the death penalty

Welp

I used to support capital punishment more broadly but now only do for the most extreme and well established cases like KSM for 9/11, who incidentally is up for trial soon.

Lethal injection is barbaric. Giving them a cigarette and putting a bullet through their head would be more humane.

So how does this happen? They missed her vein and shot the meds into her arm anyway? Gov of TN has halted all executions for the remainder of this year.

Not sure in this case, but in other cases it was because they were using a drug that doesn't actually do what it's supposed to do. That may have been the case here too.

Barbaric is exactly the word I would use. It amazes me there are people (generally republicans) who dont trust the government to get anything right but are perfectly fine with the government deciding who lives and who dies and the manner in which they are killed.

Yoooooo that's dark

Is it a fate worst then death ?

They should have used vaccines.

So people OD from fentanyl everyday and supposedly there’s a drug 10x as potent. Hell the drug that Micheal Jackson OD’d on is used in the OR to put patients out. I can’t believe that they can’t put a person out without inflecting pain ? They should have granted her request for firing squad.

From what I saw from somewhere, someone was speculating that they missed the vein or had an ablation at the IV site.

@DEagle7 would know more about that kinda thing, though.

Haha, yeah, these meth heads are like "got something stronger?"

Colbert ran a report about this very topic not too long back. If little Rasputina survives this is going to get very interesting.

The most interesting would be if this turns into Terri Schiavo and they can’t decide to just turn the equipment off
