I’ve actually been shocked at how well the right wing punditry has handled this. I’ve had Hannity on for most of the 9pm time slot and it’s been nothing but praise for her.

I want a 1 term limit for ANY political office and you can only serve a total of 20 years in politics and you're done.  NO REELECTIONS.  EVER.

The idea behind the lifetime appointment was to prevent partisanship. I think we’re beyond that at this point (though I think most SC’s in my lifetime took their job seriously and weren’t overtly partisan).

Congratulations to President Biden. Your service and leadership is sorely needed.

Don't kid yourself. He wouldn't finish the first year.

Agreed. I think he would be a second term nominee if at all. Mostly I think he’s just red meat for voters.

Biden is just fine. He’s already up in every swing state and literally been out stumping non stop for a week. He and trump are the same age and I have no doubt that trump has at least 75 lbs over Biden. That’s a lot of work for a heart that doesn’t see any exercise.

Re: TJ TEW others on undecided voters. I think most would agree Trump Hilary were polarizing overall than Trump Biden and enough voters were swayed by Comey inquiry at the last minute to get them to switch from Clinton to Trump. You absolutely have voters who can be influenced

I might buy into that had we not had the dials at 11 for the past 18 months

On this point

It could just was easily pull disaffected trump voters back in...

Yeah, I get that.  SC and politicians are different and they wanted the SCJs to surpass the partisanship of politicians.  Politicians should only be able to serve 1 term and only 20 years total in politics and NOT be allowed to be lobbyists after their political careers are over.  Back to the private sector.  I do think some of the SCJs outlive their usefulness and become antiquated as the times change, so a term limit in this day and age wouldn't be a bad thing.

There isn’t that much there. The silent majority doesn’t exist. Again, even in 2016, the republican turnout was flat.  The elections since 2000 have all been about democratic turnout. If you give them a reason to turn out, like in 2018, it will be a big deal. This gives them a reason to turnout.

If they didnt have a reason by now, they arent going to be swayed by this.

I tend to agree.  I do think Trump has a hard time winning over moderate suburban women in this election though and RBG dying won’t help that.

More than 50% of white women voted for Trump in 2016

Also, Biden is going to say he’s going to nominate a woman to replace RBG.

If Trump was smart, which again he isn't, he'd nominate a woman too.

He will. Amy Barrett.

I’ll be surprised if he picks a woman

McConnell and the Rs blocking Garland for an entire year because it’s an election year and then having press releases prepared within 90 minutes of RBG’s death saying there will be a Senate vote for Trump’s nominee like six weeks ahead of the election is one of the most infuriating things I’ve ever seen in politics.

There is no decency and there are no ethics with that man. It’s disgusting.

I don't think Trump will get the votes right now for his pick

fyp.

Lindsey Graham, who famously said to the Senate in 2016 that he'd hold any administration to the same standard, told a CNN correspondent a few months ago re: a nomination in 2020: "We'll see what the market will bear."

Oh, so it's a market now, is it? Not a nation.

Fuccitall.
