The upgrade to v5 is a bit major, both in cost and process. I've been told that 5.04, which isn't available yet, is going to fix a lot of bugs. So I'd rather wait for the major expense/upgrade for that. In the mean time, there's an update for the current version that would be cheaper and easier.

I get wanting to wait and not do multiple upgrades so close. Hopefully the update fixes the lag at least

We have it. I'd rather wait for the follow-up revision to be ready to do that big of a step though.

I found one reported 'error' but it really shouldn't have anything to do with sluggishness. I fixed it but I can't tell if it's made any difference. If it seems better, that may have helped. But like I said, it shouldn't have had any effect.

We're updated (not upgraded), the upgrade will come soon. Hopefully, the update will help speed things up and maybe it will also help with the embedding issues. 

Embedding wasn't fixed. Not sure about the loading. Still seems slow sometimes but that could be on my end

I was hoping the update would solve some of that but didn't specifically expect it. We'll do the full upgrade soon, but I want to calculate what all of the hosting bills will be, which come due in a few weeks.

The new version will have some differences from what we have now. Nothing super major from what I see:

Mike, why do you care so much about these superficial glitches? There is more than enough superb content being posted that hourly orgasms should be a common experience for almost all EMB participants.

i used to do alpha and beta testing for healthcare software companies, and my experience tells me the EMB has very very little to complain about.

It is always possible to do better, but the glass is more than half full rather than more than half empty.

This thread is about reporting any issue that you're having. I'm one of the main people posting because I go outside of the blog thread. I've quoted posts in here because there are posters that just refuse to click outside of that blog thread

Occasional double posts is not a major issue.  It is a minor irritant.  I have only experienced it once, so it more than likely is user platform specific.  The one time I experienced it the software gave me a prompt that allowed me to resolve it.  

The occasional slow response times are also an irritant, but major?  I don’t think so.  Nothing important, let alone earth-shattering, is being affected by the slowness.  The EMB users aren’t heart surgeons or investment brokers or rocket launch detection workers in Ukraine who need immediate responses.  We are hobbyists playing around with something that is fun and games, not even a job, let alone life and death.

My personal opinion on the slow response times is that the shared server is being overloaded by the non-EMB companies using that server together with the EMB.  That can be fixed by moving to a dedicated server that only has the EMB on it, but that costs money.  If we want faster response times we all need to donate some of our own money on the EMB donations page.  Have you made a donation there recently?

Sharing your observations is good to do, but avoiding a whining tone is courteous to VA.  If you need to be a Whiner you are rooting for the wrong team.  A West Coast team embraces its Whiner fans … all forty of them.

I didn’t say I wasn’t experiencing slow loading times.  I absolutely am, just like you.  If you go back and read my comment you will see that I posited what I thought was a possible reason for the slow loading, as well as a solution for it.  That solution costs money though and we shouldn’t expect VA to foot the bill for our recreational hobby.

But you are ignoring the fundamental question I posed in my response, which is, "What harm are you incurring due to the double posts and/or the slow loading times and/or any of the other bugs you have reported?”  I look forward to hearing your answer.

I suggest you look at this thread regarding the funds as I don't think you know what's happening

I've been pretty occupied recently because of my mother's surgery so I haven't read whatever's going on. But no, I don't feel like anyone's treating me badly in any way. 

Drop the arguing with each other. This topic is simply to report bugs and issues with the site so the admins can be aware and troubleshoot.
