Damnit I had a good idea but then my wife made me feel bad about doing it so I didn’t carry through.

I got a text from "Geoffrey, a volunteer with the Pennsylvania Democrats. Public records show that you've already voted! That's awesome! Can we count on you to remind 3 friends or family to vote today?“

And then I responded back, "I reminded 3 friends to vote”. And then after his response to that, I was going to say, "The 3 friends I reminded to vote had totally forgotten that Election Day was even coming up! But turns out they’re huge Trump supporters and they all voted for Trump.  So not only did they cancel out my vote for Biden but now we’re 2 in the hole.  I await further instruction.” 

I commend you guys for having the initial reaction to reach for humor in response to these dewshbags. My initial reaction is always to come up with the most vile, awful, despicable things imaginable.

 

"Hi this is Katie with the Vote for our Future campaign, and I just wanted to remind you that we hope you will vote for sustainable energy policies, reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, and equitable footing for all of our children."

 

"Hi Katie, thanks for your input and I just wanted to remind you that I hope you get cancer of the eye balls and that your significant other (assuming you even have one) leaves you for someone younger and better looking. In summary, please get cancer and die. Have a blessed day!"

 

Then after playing that thought out in my head, I get a little scared that such darkness even bubbled up that far. Apparently for some part of my psyche an innocent unsolicited text message is one of the worst possible offenses and deserving of such evil in response. 

I figure they're used to rude responses or off the wall stuff.  My approach has been to make them think I'm supporting the candidate at first and get their response and then start saying crazy stuff to see how they react.  

Wow, I just figured people ignored them.  But of course some of you guys respond to them.

This is the first year I've ever gotten any political texts.  Of course, they are addressed to a Jennifer so I assume she gave somebody gave out the wrong number.

They slowed down for a while but all of a sudden I'm getting hit again.  The election is tomorrow, whos minds are you going to change at this point?

 

Mine stopped a week or so ago. I think that theory about them stopping once the state confirms they've received your ballot was true after all.

I'm only getting one from the Senator's campaign (different people all the time) because I pretended to be a supporter and they keep asking me to find her ads and share them on social media for my friends.

I’m still getting about 4 a day.  I decided to mess with one who was a Biden supporter.  So I responded that I voted for Jo.  The person said they were very glad to hear that. I asked if they think that Jo has a chance, being the third party and all.  They responded that they were sorry, thinking I meant Joe instead of Jo.

I finally got one today. Told them I never received my mail in ballot ( which is true) said I can't get to the polls tomorrow so they won't get a vote for them. They actually offered to arrange transportation and personally see that I get to the polls!! Lol.

Yeah, i think uber and lyft have given free rides to people in the past on election day too (to the polls)
