November 19, 20204 yr hopefully they will insert some youth and let them learn on the job. Also if the Eagles place any value on Wentz's health, considering his large contract...I would either sit Wentz down or just run the ball on every play. No more QB runs in a useless attempt to loose with pride! It will be amazing if Wentz is not permanently attached to ventilators after this season's beating.

They haven't so far really unless forced due to injuries.

Lurie set a precedent when he fired Kelly after one losing season. I don’t think it’s beyond the realm of possibility that he cuts ties with Doug. There’s already friction between Doug and management as they have basically forced this coaching staff onto him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he were fired especially if they don’t make the playoffs.

Based on current standings, we would be picking 12th. If we end up 5-10-1 (where I think we land) we'd pick 8th based on last year's draft order (where AZ picked 8th with the same record). Anyway, whatever pick we end up with, we absolutely need to hit. Entirely too many high picks (3rd rd or higher) either barely or not contributing much or off the roster already (JJAW, Dillard, Hurts, Taylor, Jones, Douglas, Agholor, Rowe, Hicks).

They sit Mailata so ancient JP an validate the pay raise they gave him. They like hanging onto their older players.

Since they aren't good at drafting, having a higher pick is a better chance they take a more "sure thing" prospect. In 2013 they had the #4 and took Lane Johnson then in the 2nd round took Ertz and in the 3rd Bennie Logan (a good DT pick who took over as starter as a rookie). In 2012 they picked 12th and got Cox, then Kendricks, Curry and Foles in the first 3 rounds. That was a solid draft. The higher they are, the less chance (hopefully) they "outsmart" anyone or try taking a project and go for a top prospect.

I know Washburn was extremely influential in making the Cox pick. ‘13 was Kelly’s first year here ... have to figure he had quite a bit of influence on that class.

I know Washburn was extremely influential in making the Cox pick. ‘13 was Kelly’s first year here ... have to figure he had quite a bit of influence on that class. 2012 was the first year Lurie wanted to "streamline" the draft process. He famously said he had taken "voluminous notes" on the personnel people and their evaluations of players. He wanted Howie to take the scouting and rating of players by everyone and put it into a process to put together their draft board collecting everyone's thoughts (isn't this what every team does?) So yes 2012 was the last year of Reid's influence but they were not letting Reid solely call the shots anymore. Of course, any good GM is going to collaborate. You are right, Washburn really wanted Cox (tee hee) and Reid loved drafting linemen. Either way, my point is that a higher pick makes it more likely that Howie takes a guy considered to be a top prospect rather than some crazy reach. Picking in the 20s doesn't work out as well in the 1st round for them because the decision is tougher. Example in 2013 you had an easier choice to take Lane Johnson at #4.

Come on man, just imagine what it would be like telling fans in preseason that the team would be garbage and still be in 1st place after the 1st half of the season. Wouldn't that be awesome?!

Then the coach seems completely lost on how to get him going and the defense just loves to give up points at the worst possible times.

I really doubt they will move Howie and in a twisted way (seems like some of Howie’s duds here are playing well in other places) they could justify Howie isn’t the problem. I think Doug and Wentz would be shown the door before Howie though he’s been a main problem the whole time.
November 19, 20204 yr They will go 4-1 over the next 5. No reason other then it is something the Eagles would do.

November 20, 20204 yr They actually did the first one (albeit here) as a Madden sim on Wednesday and the Eagles were losers to the Browns, 28-17 (and they did it under conditions similar to what are expected Sunday in Cleveland as Draft Kings does Madden Sims that on Wednesdays are ALL played in bad weather). Telltale sign?
