Update: Eagles sign Jordan Howard to practice squad

Multiple reports tonight that the Eagles are signing Howard to the practice squad after he clears the COVID protocols.  He was released by the Dolphins and cleared waivers earlier this week.

If true, and he's healthy, this is a good move by the Birds.  He scored 6 TDs before he got hurt here last year and has a career average of 4.2 yards per carry.  Too bad Doug doesn't like to run the ball..

Not surprised.  He would be dirt cheap.

Sign him for the rest of the year, let him walk and sign elsewhere.  Which leads to:

Great move!  He and Sanders were a great tandem IMO.  It sucked watching him leave but completely understood not wanting to come close to matching the offer Miami gave him.  And Scott serves as a really nice change of pace back.

Sanders, Howard, Scott >> Sanders, Scott, Clement

He just turned 26 and has only been in the league for 4 years, so I’d think not.

What a bunch of dumb sheets, the move is to bring up Holyfield.

It's so weird how much he dropped off a cliff being so young. Couldn't get snaps in Miami over a bunch of young guys even when they had injuries. Either way if he's healthy he's better than clement so not a bad move

They signed him to the practice squad.
And he’s ineligible this week because...COVID.

Glad to see him back, as it's been obvious we've sorely missed a bruising back like him.  But I have to wonder if that shoulder injury was worse than it was let on last season.

I remember there were guys on this board arguing that we should give Howard $7-8m per year to re-sign him. Thank God they’re not running the team.

It's as simple as he is a one dimensional back. Which is pound it between the tackles. He is real good at it though. Just most teams want more out of a back these days

If they moved up Holyfield, you would have said they should have signed Howard

Yes the one year Doug gave up major OC roles to Frank. That year turned out ok I guess.

He has been atrocious this year, though.

He's being brought back on the PS isn't he? I mean doesn't that speak volumes?

Only 28 carries but 4 TDs. Sanders only has 3 rushing TDs on 86 touches. You can see Miami used him as a short down/goaline back only.

I disagree with hes a one trick pony. If you watched him with the Bears he was a very good inside dive and off tacke back. Anything between the tackles. There is a lot of options to use in between those tackles run play wise.
