November 26, 20205 yr I wish all of you - and that includes you too, Prime - a Very Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.
November 26, 20205 yr What kind of culinary adventures are people getting into? Just me and the gf going up the block to visit my parents this year instead of the usual large gathering. My mom hadn't made a turkey in over 15 years since we always went to my aunt's since moving back to PA, so I kinda stepped in. Got us a pasture-raised bird straight from a farm in Sinking Spring. I did a 24-hr. brine with an apple cider, brown sugar, and orange peel mixture. Slow roasting at 275 for three hours, then coating in butter and herbs before finishing at 350 for another 1.5-2 hrs. I've been really getting into wine pairings lately, so I got us a nice lineup to go along: French pinot noir, beaujolais, and two Cali chardonnays. Pictures of the bird later, but here's the libation lineup:
November 26, 20205 yr Something similar. Schmoopie and I have several bottles of wine and prosecco (not pictured) to go through. So that and football all day (damn you ravens). As for food we are splitting with her sister who lives down the street. We picked up turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, brussel sprouts and corn bread from Talula's Table. Schmoopie also made cranberry sauce and a big ham. Her sister picked up two pies from Nomadic Pies and put together a cheese plate:
November 26, 20205 yr Well at least you guys have good food and booze, because the football games look absolutely dreadful.
