Darius Slay needs to go...

Darius Slay is a baller and my favorite player already on defense. He had a rough night last night vs Metcalf but it was reasonable. I think he needs to go because he is being contaminated by this Eagles team. They are wasting his talent just like the detroit lions were. I would love to keep Slay but I feel bad that he is wasting his good years playing for a non-contender.

Eagles need to completely rebuild and they might as well trade Slay while he still has value. Not to mention, with the cap the way it is, there is a high likelihood the Eagles are not going to to keep Slay past 2021 season (where they have an out).

I will still get my Darius Slay jersey to remember his solid season that was wasted.

Slay was clearly overmatched by DK but Schwartz should've put a Safety over the top all game once in was clear Slay was in trouble.

Slay played hard and took responsibility for his many failures after the game. Good character guy but he's older and won't be getting any better with time, he'll only fade. If they get a good offer, yeah, I'd move him for a future pick.

There's not a corner one on one that would of played Metcalf any better outside of maybe Ramsey...

Actually, his coverage wasn't that bad, it's not like he was beat like a drum, his problem was failing to turn and locate the ball.

This wussy play of watching the receivers hands is BS, the good receivers don't reach out to make the catch until the last moment......just like I used to do 🙂

I think he needed help. His man caught 10 balls for 177 yards. That is getting beat like a drum.

As for CB play, I'll defer to an interview I heard with Herm Edwards. He said there's only 2 kinds of CB's in the world. Those who naturally play the man and those who naturally play the ball. He said you can try to train them to be the other way but in pressure moments they'll always revert to what comes naturally. Those who play the ball are much more rare, so when you see one, you go get him. There's a really good one coming out in the 2022 draft from LSU named Derek Stingley JR. The Eagles should get him no matter what.

I don't agree with Herm often but I think he's right about the two kinds of corners.

Concerning getting beat like a drum, on most of those receptions Slay was right there with Metcalf, it wasn't Jalen Mills and Avante Maddox beatdowns.

He was there. He just couldn't break any up. I like him, but it was what it was. To me, he needed help and the DC should've given it to him. these things happen and coaches are supposed to adjust. Schwartz didn't adjust.

Slay was a desperate trade for Howie. He missed out on Jones and Bradberry in free agency so he had to trade for a CB and Slay was on the market. We gave up a 3rd which we really could’ve used to fill some holes and then signed him to an expensive contract. He too is a player on the decline and is no longer a shut down corner. He’s a very good player but not a great player and is not living up to the money he was paid. One of the scrubs we have could’ve held Metcalf to 10 catches 177 yards.

Signing Bradberry was my first choice.

Stop your nonsense.  The Eagles defense played exceptionally well last night.  And that's with Slay giving up 170+ yards to DK Metcalf.  Slay himself admitted it was his worst performance since coming into the NFL.

Yeah, Howie should go to the local supermarket, look for the kid packing bags, and sign him to be the starting CB and just cut Slay. That's his best option.

Honestly I don't know what these guys are expecting. The Seahawks were averaging 400 yards per game and 32 points per game coming in. Schwartz and the D held them to 301 yards and 23 points. And that's with the offense gifting them 6 points and not controlling the ball at all.

Slay struggled, but him covering Metcalf one on one did allow Schwartz to pretty much shut everybody else down. On another day he makes some of those plays against Metcalf, he was in good position a lot of the time.

The D played great and some of the idiots calling for Schwartz's head are going to be in for a shock when he leaves and we see what the lack of talent on this D looks like without a really good DC.

He covers fairly well, but dang, can he make a play on the ball every now and then?

I don't expect 7 INTs out of him, but when the ball comes your way, whip that head around, get an arm out and extended, block the WRs vision, tip or bat the ball, etc....

Can any of our DBs please. Jeez the lack of INTs for years now has been an issue.

Yeah, Slay was left on an island and he contained him fairly well. DK is one of the best, if not the best, receivers in the game. I would have liked to see him do better against DK but Wilson was kept pretty contained and the defense did a decent job of containing the Seahawks and a lot of it was because Slay was left in a tough spot. He was humble about the game but the plan put him in that position. I have no problems with Slay or the yards he gave up yesterday. DK didn't see the end zone and that's a victory in my mind.

He's a good CB.  No one will want to take on his salary with the cap going down next year.  We need him anyway as he's the only outside CB on the roster.  We need to keep him and get a CB in the 1st or 2nd round.  Hard to find good ones after that.  You have to get lucky and have an eye for talent that we surely don't possess.  We'll need another one mid rounds who hopefully can be competent/average, which would be a nice upgrade over what we have.  We won't have any money for free agency and we need two more outside CBs with Slay on the roster.
