As for CB play, I'll defer to an interview I heard with Herm Edwards. He said there's only 2 kinds of CB's in the world. Those who naturally play the man and those who naturally play the ball. He said you can try to train them to be the other way but in pressure moments they'll always revert to what comes naturally. Those who play the ball are much more rare, so when you see one, you go get him. There's a really good one coming out in the 2022 draft from LSU named Derek Stingley JR. The Eagles should get him no matter what. If Roseman is somehow still making the calls, you can bet he would opt for the Pac 10 kid who wowed at the Combine instead.

This wussy play of watching the receivers hands is BS, the good receivers don't reach out to make the catch until the last moment......just like I used to do 🙂 You're a regular old Randy Moss, aren't you.

December 5, 20204 yr Except slay is 5th all time for passes defensed in a season with 26 and in the top 50 all time for passes defensed with 108 in 7 seasons. You don't get your hands on that many balls not locating it. That is actually one of Slays biggest strengths. He even said he usually wins the 50/50 ball battles. He had an off game with it. The coach that taught the secondary to play the receivers hands isn't here anymore and Slay never played under that coach.

He's had a good year for this team and as you say he just had a bad day. Plenty of good corners will have bad days against DK. The bigger issue with this for me was that it was such a damning indictment of Howie. A WR he passed on went to town on a corner he traded for because he made such poor draft picks.
