I don’t think they move on from him (yet), but should they decide to go that route and trade him, the point was, they’re using the same amount of cap space on him whether he is here or not (in 2021 ... obviously future years are then free and clear of his cap hit). If they’ve seen enough and know he isn’t the level of QB to get them to where they want to be (have to assume that is being perennial contenders), then it almost makes sense to deal him and get whatever picks they can in return to try to build the team. Lord knows there are plenty of areas that need to be addressed (CB, WR, DE, interior OL, LB, S, etc). Heck you could even argue TE if they decide to move on from Ertz too (which I think they should).
