Models have a pretty significant storm event for Wed/Thurs. Enjoy this nice mild Sunday.  Monday is mostly a non impactful weather day. Rain and snow well north and west of 95.

More later.  I’m still on my 1st cup.

Today’s Euro model run.  Still have a ways to go to see if this particular picture pans out.  All I know from following a weather forum when things get busy traffic wise on the site, you know something could be up.  Once around 36 hrs from event you can be pretty confident of what you’re going to get.  I just went out to the garden shed to fetch a shovel and a broom.  Bring it!!

Looking like 14-20" up here.  Fired up the snow blower yesterday to make sure everything is working.  I fully expect to rain since I'm prepared.

We have Mexcians, so I gotta buy beer

These storms are always a battle between the high pressure in Canada providing the cold, and the low pressure track off the coast. The NAO is tilted negative which helps instead of a system just doing a drive by or going out to sea.

This one the low is too close to Delmarva so folks along the 95 corridor will get the warm air influence for part of the storm. There will be mixing which means less accumulation in this area. Look out central PA, NE PA, you will get possible blizzard warnings today.

We’ve been in a snow drought so I’m happy just to see something!  My call for southern Chesco is 6 or less unless the low trends futher east today which it’s not, it’s actually trending west.

There are many Eagle fans over on this weather site, and they are convinced they have jinxed this storm (most are all snow lovers)-by either starting a storm thread too soon or getting their snow blowers out and ready!  This is what I was thinking earlier --the damn thing is coming to far in (west) then previously modeled.   Some are cursing their hobby.  Some of them actually lose sleep staying awake for new model runs.  In the end, they know should not get too excited until we're in the 36 hr. window.  A newbie just posted if that so be it for this one to not be so impactful right when they're moving vaccines all over the place.  He said it would take a week to get back on track.

They are saying 6-12 inches.  Got Toscano soup in the slowcooker (schmoopie made cornbread muffins  ) and wine ready to uncork.  We good (as long as we have power that is)

Schmoopie has been pushing for one, just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

rigjt now I’m a third of a way into a 4 pack of Troegs perpetual ipa, but then it’s onto wine. Not sure which one yet since we haven’t opened today’s entry on the advent calendar

Nice. Today was my last day of work, I go back (log back in, I probably should say, LOL) on 1/4/2021. Longest amount of time off in my career. My company gave us 5 extra vacation days to use due to Covid so I was able to save like 9 days to use at the end of the year.

I just did round 1 with the snow blower.

It seems to have changed to icy stuff so if this continues for long Id guess its going to cut down pretty much on our snow totals.

Will see what awaits in the morning.

Worked the closing shift today and I work close to the Jersey shore and it was all rain.  Driving home, which I'm practically halfway between Philly and AC, I started to see some snow on the grassy areas as I got closer to home.  Guessing at most it was a few inches.  So looks like most of the snow was N and NW of Philly.  I don't mind snow.  I actually like it depending what kind it is.  The dry powder kind is great, but the wet kind sucks to shovel.  I still have my snowboarding boots, pants and gloves so I keep warm and dry.  Rain has pretty much stopped now, but it's windy as Hell.  Stay safe, everyone.

We got 5-6 inches here in Philadelphia. More than the past couple winters combined. Pain in the ass to shovel though. The sleet created a nice icy barrier on top of the snow.

Yup, that's what we got in Burlington County. Maybe only two inches, but it's all caked with a layer of ice about a half inch thick. It's kind of melting naturally already, but it's still a PITA to crack through when you're trying to shovel the driveway and sidewalk.

Today is one of those days where you really wish you didn't turn your garage into the game watching room!  The car was encased.  I broke a sweat cleaning it off once I finally got the door open to start it up.  Two finger tips are still numb despite wearing gloves.   The trees looked magical on the drive in.  No one is here really.  I'll be leaving early to get back home by dark.  Temps are only getting to freezing today, so not much melting will be happening and roads will freeze up after dark.    Stay safe
