If Im Carson, Id ask for a trade. Seriously.

With the money he is making? Why would you rock the boat?

Because the Eagles did exactly that by drafting a QB with their second pick.

And people thought this pick was a reach, ha!

You're reading too much into it. Hurts is a major project that could probably help out in short yardage and such like the Saints Hill. If he's thinking like you are about a prospect that is a project then he's mentally weak and yeah he needs to go.

No idea but Carson will welcome him with open arms. I’m dumbfounded. So many more needs.

A QB  that can be on the field and lead his team to meaningful wins is a pretty big need.

That's Tyreek Hill's fastest speed in the NFL

The major project part is what people are upset about. Personally I wouldn't have waited and took James Morgan as a project qb way later in the draft. We don't really struggle on short yardage plays, so getting hurts for that is kind of pointless. Hill was also undrafted not a second round pick.

Fair but I think people are clouded with seeing that the Eagles may very well see some potential in him. Best case scenario is Wentz stays injury free, returns to form, has MVP like seasons, super bowls and along the way you develop Hurts and trade him to get value back like we did with QBs back in the day. I think people don't like it more so because it's somewhat of an indicator that we may not be able to trust Wentz to be around past his contract.

I disagree. I think it's solely because it isn't a player to help us win now. Even if Wentz is to go down you wouldn't expect a rookie project to be able to fill in and contribute like a player they could have drafted to be a starter CB, LB, S, OL, even another WR.

This this this. It's about need. Fit. Talent. What was on the board. So many freaking reasons.

Outside of RB/WR on occasion there aren't many players you can bring in the 2nd round that can help you right away in a big way. I wanted Gibson/Mims so I get it. But what I don't know 1st hand is how bad Wentz's injuries have been. With his injury history he's not trending well and that's not something any of us want to see (other than those that can't let go of Foles)

Definitely true on Wentz injuries but we have seen LBs make a huge difference rookie year, oline is always a solid bet and we need a LG possibly a RG and a C, Dline can always provide talent in round 2 rookie year. There's better options all around than back up qb and a project at that.

Certainly if you're thinking short term. But man I gotta say I'm really worried about Wentz given this move. He may be toast.

Gonna be expensive to sit him.

I think Mims was a good value there at 53. I think I understand the Hurts pick, I agree they need a QB with Wentz injuries and maybe to copy the saints. I just feel he might have been a bit early. They could have traded up in the 3rd with one or more of the 4ths to land him. I do think we could have had more impact with that 53 pick and I agree Mims would have been a good pick there. I was not much on Gibson but don;t have much on him to have a view. There were a few others that could have been more impact players right away too.

Certainly. I'm sure if they sit him it wouldn't be by their own volition but because Wentz broke down physically.

I liked Mims too. But it's a gamble to pass on Hurts. You will find more WRs, but that QB plan won't present itself all that often.

Jeez you really are invested in this rubbish aren't you bud. I can't believe the support to a player who ideally doesn't ever play.

Key word. Ideally. Given the trend we may see him sooner than later.

And are you invested into hating a pick that is already an Eagle for no reason but you knowing it better?

Well I remember not long ago you going on big rants against the Eagles too. Like then you will have to eat your words eventually.

Because smart teams don't make dumb moves like this. Say what you will but Hurts does nothing to improve the team. If Wentz goes down maybe he offers more than Sudfeld but it's still a drop.

How many teams never need their backup QB to play?   Recent history shows the Eagles sure do.

I don't like using a 2nd rounder to take a QB but they need a backup.  They don't seem confident in Sudfeld and don't have the cap space to pay a competent veteran.

I don't deny that. But if they aren't confident in Sudfeld they shouldn't have brought him back. And there are other options out there without giving up a second round pick.

They have like $20-30M in cap space. They have plenty to sign a veteran QB.

After hearing them say 'We'll do anything for a first down' sounds like they have an immediate plan for him. Saints have the blue print.
