I don't deny that. But if they aren't confident in Sudfeld they shouldn't have brought him back. And there are other options out there without giving up a second round pick.

They have like $20-30M in cap space. They have plenty to sign a veteran QB.

This year. Next year they are projected 20+ mill over the cap.

You sign a veteran for one year though.... Plus they can carry cap over.

If your paying the backup 5+ mill your now reducing the amount you carry over next year. And then your paying another 5+ mill backup the following year and so on. Hurts will come in the 1.5 mill range roughly avg for 4 years.

Cap was not the main reason but Im sure it was a bullet point in there for them.

QB that can throw and run a 4.5 40 on a team that runs Philly Specials. They have plans for him while they are developing him. Sounds like a get first downs, redzone, short yardage type of plan from the start. So this notion that he won't contribute this year seems incorrect.

He'll barely contribute. Not compared to what others could have potentially done.

I mean it's not a reason or an excuse to waste a second round pick.

How do you know this already? While you're in your Deloreon let me know when this damn vaccine will be made available.

Because he's the freaking back up. Not a projected starter at corner or Safety. Not a rotational RB or rotational edge rusher. He's the back up QB who you hope never has to play.

Well, Doug has already compared him to the dope in New Orleans and plans to use him like that.

I doubt very much they do. Doug isn't as creative in that way as people like to think.

I guess we shall see.

We will see an offense struggle and grind away again.

That would be true if the receivers Wentz has to throw to are

Deontay Burnett
Robert Davis
Shelton Gibson
Marken Michael

It won't be much better than that.

A back up that's going to play. He's not going to just be a back up. Did you not here the interviews on how the Eagles plan to use him?

Like they were really going to use Goedert?

you have to excuse him, he didn't really watch the last season..

You think this team are really going to use Hurts a lot? Like Hill is used in NO? When they've really failed to properly integrate Goedert in to this offense.

Define a lot.

Well let's see... A second round pick could be a good starter especially in this secondary... So let's say to be generous... 60-70% of snaps.

It doesn't really matter what we think. It's what Doug Pederson Said.

How many teams never need their backup QB to play?   Recent history shows the Eagles sure do.

I don't like using a 2nd rounder to take a QB but they need a backup.  They don't seem confident in Sudfeld and don't have the cap space to pay a competent veteran.

Then they never should have re-signed him. The attempts to justify the pick only seem to point to their incompetence in other ways.

He's hardly going to say the truth here is he.

True, but what else is there to believe? No one said he is going to be the back up and sit on the bench until Wentz gets hurt.

That's the truth though.
