I use the speedtest often,  that's how I knew my speeds in the earlier post.  I do have a few questions:

- The satellite that you are referring to.  Is that part of the mesh system?  Would that be home base, like how the router/modem is now?

- I believe there are 3 parts to the system I have coming in.  If the router/modem is part/point A (my office upstairs) and the shed out by the fire pit, where I want the signal to stream is part/point C (through multiple walls obviously, over a pool and about 100 yards from point A) then I would assume a good place to put part/point B is in between A and C.  Which in this case would be our master bathroom.

I'm calling the non main unit pieces the satellites. So yes the way that you are describing, with point b being half way, should work, but it might take some placement tinkering to get the best results.

What system did you buy?

Just bought our first house Friday. Previous owner loved wood paneling. Over the weekend we sanded, primed and painted the doors in the master bedroom and the paneling in the master bathroom. I’m not much of a DIYer as I’ve rented for the last million years but I’ve been known to watch a couple YouTube videos and try to fix things. However this was my first real foray into painting anything. Here’s some before and after.

A friend of mine had a similar situation in his bathroom and its amazing how much better painting those panels white makes everything look.

Yeah I honestly can't believe how much better it looks. It was a pain but def worth it.

Not bad, a little too much white but then again I may have grown up too close to Norristown.

True but Not quite done, my wife wants to put up some wallpaper on the upper wall portion. We’ll see how it goes.

Also take out that mirror and put something more decorative in with a frame around it. That will make a big difference. Actually I’d rip out that entire vanity and replace it with something more updated too - marble top, under mount sink, new faucet - depending on your budget.

Something with mink that screams Newtown Square.

Definitely. Really planning on redoing the whole thing in a few years. For now though the kitchen is the first thing all of our money is going into.

Kitchen #1 sink money into for resale value. Bathrooms #2.

Yep. And mainly just for better living. Like if you ask me which Id rather have a new kitchen or all new bathrooms, def going new kitchen.

We have a spotlight out back that turns on whenever there is motion.  Or at least it use to.  And recently, I couldn't even turn it on manually.  So I decide to buy a replacement and went to switch it out today (after winding down another project).  This is what I found:

<_<

Best way to describe it, the neutral wire "rotted" off.  So now I have to tear a hole or two into the wall, run a new 12/2 wire from the switchbox to the floodlight and patch\paint everything up.  Because I don't have enough s*** on my plate as it is.

In happier news, the fireplace project is winding down and I should have the built in shelves added in the next few days:

Looks good paco.

The washer quit yesterday.  Looked on line today and also tried the little mom and pop appliance place in town. They had 1- A Maytag.  Looked ok. They don’t take cards so had to go to the bank and pay cash 200.  A 30 day warranty.  Called my son to go fetch it -no delivery.  He dropped it off and asked me to bring him dinner after work. He’s cutting a spray field. He gave me a wrench and said I could do it so I did.  Sitting here listening to it run!!!   And no leaks!!!!!!

Please don’t make fun of me. I am learning.  This is mold spores right?   Get in my haz mat suit and try to scrape it off?  Or just leave it alone?  Sprayed  rmr-86 on it today.  Got rid of the canned food shelf that used to be there.  It’s the most underground part of the basement.

Done most of my intensive labor projects at the new house. Completely redid this den.  Here’s a before and after. Not bad for a guy who rented the last 10 years and never did anything.

Only thing I did not do in this room is install the recessed lighting. Still have some minor things to finish (door threshold, new baseboard trim, new stairs going up to kitchen, cover for electrical box, etc). The wall on the right (not pictured) was a gigantic wall covered in the same dark wood paneling. All painted as well now.

The flooring and the recessed lights look great. What are your plans for the panel box?

So while I was fixing the coffee I hear something hit the floor. Wtf was that?   Fricking screw came out of a bottom cabinet hinge.  It’s an original screw. I only have thousands of pounds of screws nails whatever here!! I found it, the original one.  Then I said, wtf is the screw driver?  Here or in Maryland?  Maybe I should have 10 of them like Mr Di did.  I’m feeling bad getting rid of some things slowly-   I mostly miss saying, honey will you fix this for me?  I should start a site -the vile things widows must do.  F!!  Of course I took a pic.  Then made a drink!

Going to put some sort of door over it that matches the wall and doesn’t stick out so much. Still working on ideas. Couldn’t use the original wall covering that was there because the electrician cut open that open more to fit a bigger box when he upgraded the electric service.

Maybe I'll be able to join in here soon. Placed an accepted offer on a townhouse earlier this week. Scheduled for a Dec 13th close.

Congrats! You’re in the home stretch. Did you waive all contingencies and offer then all of your cats to sweeten the deal?

As some here know, schmoopie and I recently bought a new home.  Which meant that not only did I have to coordinate a move, but I had to finish a bunch of projects around the house.  Most were basement projects I have been working on since the pandemic hit (although it officially started back in the fall of 2016  )

New Fireplace:

I wish I took a final pic without the painters tape and the built in shelves' outlets fully installed before I handed the keys to the renters

Oh yeah, finally got around to fixing that pesky

They allow two cats and I did not waive anything yet! I had the inspection today so I got to snap some photos

Any roofing experts or recent experiences?  We are constantly getting bombarded with roofer door boobs around here.

Ours is 14 years old.

Asphalt.

Fading a little.

Some of the little remnants or little pieces have been washing off with the rains we have had.

2300 square foot home, 2 story.

Anyone have any realistic ideas on cost?

I am trying not to do it since we hope to move to closer to the ocean in a few years.  Was just curious.

I'm not a realtor, just going by my gut here, but you may not want that to drive your decision.  If the housing market flips to a buyers market, as many are predicting, having a roof that needs to be replaced may put you at a serious disadvantage.  In a hot buyers market, a bad roof is something that would more likely be tolerated and not hurt your home value.

As for cost, any number I come up with would be me talking out of my ass.

go metal. itll last a lot longer and you should be able to find someone to do it for the same or less than shingles. i did about 10 with my neighbor over the last year and a half, they are much easier to install than shingles.
