There is thermal insulation for that...... check with your local hvac folks

also checking for coding as this is part of the existing structure.

gas units/boxes don't get as hot as wood fireboxes if vented (to exterior wall) correctly so proper gap between firebox exterior and wall (6"  for gas ?)

be easier to just frame your gf's box as i'm sure that hasn't been hot in some time. actually just take the tv from the alcove and install it in her box. you'll likely see more action then*.

I think we're sticking with a safer, albeit tacky, fake electric one

The son informed me to get hot water he needs to cut open the back of a cabinet and the wall as that is where the wire is.  I thought he had fished it to the outside, but no.  The tank is outside under the cottage.  He made a little home for it, and I cut some styrofoam insulation and put in there but is just sitting there doing nothing.  It was really hot and humid down there Saturday, so I really didn't mind a cold shower.  Towards evening the air conditioner was spitting water inside.  It was draining outside; it was just having a hard time keeping up.  This concerns me now since I will be getting a gas stove top which will be in direct line of getting wet on really humid days.  Is there any way to remedy this.? Maybe get one of those covers to keep any moisture from getting into the components of the stove top. It could also serve as a back splash when using the cooktop.  I think I answered my own question.

It got really breezy in the afternoon, and it did storm at night.  I have to dead bolt the door because of settlement the front door can and has flew open as you have to lift up a bit to get it to latch.  Hope to see if my son, or brother in law, or someone has some time this coming weekend to help me. Never ending project.

well i'm sure he did in it. if he time it right.

I just sold my Blackstone because it was stupid. I don’t like breakfast or smash burgers enough to clean that thing. I only want a propane grill. I want the best propane grill. Should I just get a Weber genesis?  @BFit I have the sheetiest char-broil grill but I use it at least twice a week down here.  I’m about to buy this one.  I’d like to reiterate that I want the least amount of cleanup possible bc I have 2 daughters 2 and under. I don’t have time for fancy sheet.

I've often wondered what the attraction was to these - do people really need to have their eggs and hash browns prepped on an outdoor grill?

Season is winding down at the cottage. We have to Oct 15. The 3 windows got trim. I’m painting them.  Needs a 2nd coat next weekend.  Have a refrigerator and a stove in. Gas for stove will happen next year. I may ask if she has a smaller one, the thing is taking up valuable floor space. Counter was cut. 2 seams to do.

Since I am no good with power tools and wood I thought I would try to do some trim with rope and glue.  If it’s still up next week I’ll keep going to cover more seams.

I think @BFit once covered this around grounding and if it was an issue when going from two to three and not having a ground wire present.  If I’m right I’ll let him cover this if you run into that issue.

I have a few questions (just read the link, didn’t click)

Are your other outlets GFCI?  If not, does the circuit you have them on go near water (like a sink or an external outlet that may be exposed to rain?).  If the answer is no to both, why are you looking at GFCI?

Have you pulled out the outlet and inspected the wiring?  I.E. is there a black, white and ground going to it or just black and white.

I also see the two that you linked are different amps. (15 vs 20) If you pulled the outlet out to check the wiring many (depending how old) will have the amp on it.  If not, I’d just go by the amp on the breaker that you used to cut power. Most likely it will be 20.

Please note I am NOT an electrician and zapped myself many, many times. And schmoopie twice.

I have not even started looking at things, and haven't cut the power yet.  I don't have an electrical tester of my own yet, so I could use a suggestion on that, if there's one better than the others.
