Bathroom ceiling in. Shower walls next up before we install the pocket door frame.  Well and plumbing coming soon.

First day ever using this thing they call a caulk gun.  I also ripped the adhesive from under the track to the tub cause it was loose and water was going under there.  That was a gross mess. Dried it up real good with paper towels and a hair dryer and super duper glued it back down. Will see how long it takes for water to hit the floor again.

How long for caulk to dry/set?  Should wait for that before putting the doors back on?

You're going to tell me I did it wrong?  Just trying to keep the water in the tub where it belongs and off the floor.

you may have taken the pic before you sealed the caulking (wet finger along the caulk line to fully seal) is all, i'm sure you did this.

Took the day off today. Went to the Bay. Didn’t have my spackle stuff so tried my brush hand on these joints with primer in the bathroom. Son arrived around 4:30 but I was 6 margaritas in.  Plumbing is moving ahead.  Cousins are helping with that as a way to throw me a bone for Mr Di building their cottage.  Hope to have water by the end of July.  1 Ac working.

Well I’m under contract for a house. Woohoo. Fingers crossed we make it to the finish line. Seems promising though. Needs some work, anyone have experience in painting wood paneling? Any tips appreciated.

Rip it down and put up drywall.

Doable but not worth it

4 million layers to cover dark paneling.

If any peeling has started, it will continue after you paint.

Replace with new brown board and paint that.

There are videos on YouTube on how to.

Oh man, pinterest makes it look so easy though. I would say it's relatively light paneling. Will have to check for peeling.

Personally I would rather replace it. However my wife may have other ideas I dunno. We will see.

After watching youtube it seems 1,000 times better to just hang drywall over it. Plus my father in law hung drywall for work for years so we will probably go that route.

not completely on topic, but had to change the blade drive belt on my riding mower. i'd like to take this opportunity to give a big FU to the engineer that designed this thing.

I finally reached out (through work channels) to get in touch with a Realtor since making my move to MN about 8 months ago. Filled out mortgage application stuff and came back with  the quickness on pre-approvals and all that. Having an 800+ credit score, cash on hand for 20% down payment, and what I imagine is a single digit debt-to-income ratio percentage this time around (compared to when I bought 3 years ago with a 680ish score, 50% D:I, and 3.5% down on FHA Loan) basically would be completely offset but the absurd spike in property prices.

Does anyone know if a decline is expected when we get into the sheety winter months? I have no problem buying in like Dec or Jan if I don't see something I love for a reasonable price this summer/fall.

Son and brother in law got a Ishter in the cottage yesterday.  It was a glorious day! Two sinks and a shower to go.

How to fix a god  awful drywall seam.  I'd sooner slit my throat than ever touch a trowel or joint compound again!  Apparently Mr. Di didn't do the J channel correctly on this side.  His brother fixed it but not without some choice words.  Oh well, it's done.  Can put the soffit pieces on now.

Question:  While sister in law and I were working inside and the guys were on the outside they must have hit an electrical wire cause it threw the breakers.  I turned them back on and everything seem to work fine.  Do I need to go find what they hit before putting walls up?

Edit to say, or maybe the circuit just blew running compressor and nail gun, and lord knows had a fan and something else plugged inside on the strip I have.  Think I answered my own question as this seems more likely?

Still working in the bathroom at the bay.  Three hours at a time.  Nothing is square.  The wall to the left is going to be worse. But we will get it.  Toilet still works!

Yeah.  I have seen numerous videos about this.  Just nothing has told me that I can get a wireless signal strong enough to support streaming on a TV.  I guess I will find out.  I def am not interested in digging another hole for a ethernet line.

I was just wondering if anyone has gone the wireless route away from the house before.

If you're getting 230mbps signal out there then you should have plenty. Streaming in 4K takes like 25mbps and streaming 1080p is only like 10 or so mbps. If your stream lags or cuts in and out it will mean that your wifi is close to being out of range. Boost up the signal with a repeater out there and you should be good to go.

Hey guys.  Question.  Back in the spring I posted pictures in here of my renovated fire pit area.  Where we also, now have power.  I want to be able to get a strong enough internet signal out there that I can stream ESPN+ and Amazon on a smart TV.  We built a shelf and would like to watch college games out there on the weekends in the fall.  I have done research and have procrastinated enough, mostly because it's too hot in the summer to worry about a fire pit and def to have a tv out there.  But with football fast approaching, I need to get on it.  What I have found was something called a "Wireless mesh router".  Is that something that if I put out there would be strong enough to stream tv?

My current download speed in my office, right next to the modem and router is 230.4 and the upload is 11.7.  I have no idea what those mean BTW.

I'm buying a mesh system very soon, just figuring out what system I want to go with. I think it's the way to go for remote streaming, you just have to make sure that you put the satellite in a spot that has decent wifi coverage, but still can reach the area you are trying to cover. Your speeds will be slightly slower from the satellite, but if it's put in a steady wifi spot you should be fine.

The way it works is the satellite is reproducing what ever signal it gets, so if it's in a bad wifi spot where your speeds are slowed, it's going to be reproducing those slower speeds. Download the app speedtest and check the spot you are going to set the satellite.
