I remember coming into CVON right around the 16 election and calling Trump a fascist and getting attacked by magas. I really didn't expect to find so many stupid people there but I should have known considering the years of TATE experience.

Never supported that scumbag and those of you who did... We'll always remember.

I was vocally against him from the day he declared, for a whole bunch of reasons. The two primary ones were that (i) he's not a conservative and (ii) he's an imbecile. I'm a registered Republican (for now), and I am basically a Libertarian. I couldn't understand the appeal of voting for a complete moron with no guiding principles and zero interest in trying to learn a single thing about how governing works. The pushback was 2 fold in 2016: (i) Hillary must be stopped at all costs and (ii) he'll just be a figurehead that can be controlled by adults while he plays king. I am no fan of Hillary, but I knew Trump well enough (from business dealings) to know that (ii) was an insane bet to make -- he is an amazing mix of incompetence, ignorance and arrogance. He is uniquely dangerous because he is a moron who thinks he is the smartest guy in the room. I will say that even I failed to appreciate his amorality.

However, I can somewhat excuse people who voted for him in 2016 thinking he could be controlled. They saw The Apprentice, figured he would respect some norms and that it would be manageable if somewhat embarrassing. It was a dumb vote, and never-Trumpers definitely get to throw some "I told you so" jabs out there, but it wasn't deplorable. However, if you voted for him in 2020, after seeing the depths of his ineptitude and villainy, you are 100% deplorable. You own this catastrophe, end of story.

Nobody's gonna admit it now, but in 4 years if he's up for re-election, bet money most of them would still "hold their nose" and vote for him a 3rd time.

Maybe, I won't. If satan himself runs against him I'll write in you

Well said.

I had my reservations about him in '16 but figured he was the lesser of the 2 evils, and trusted there would be grown ups running things.  I started kicking myself shortly thereafter.  As you know, since then I absolutely think he is one of the most vile human beings that was ever born.  There's still 0.3% of my empathic self that wants him to seek help.  He is not well.

Pretty spot on.

2020 Trump voters absolutely own everything that is happening now. And there are two types: the true MAGA believers who are his most ardent supporters and therefore are by and large just idiots. But then you have the "held my nose” crowd: Those "not a Trump supporter” but still voted for him twice are the people I just don’t get - arguably far worse that you knew this was all possible but still supported him because reasons/somehow convinced yourselves that voting third party or Biden was worse. And someone said above, I’d be curious to really know what this group does if he runs again. I suspect they’ll all say right now that they won’t vote for him ever again but if push came to shove and he was actually running, I’d bet the vast majority will vote for him again.
