I actually feel for the guy. Never expected that lol. Packers have never gotten him a weapon in the 1st round and went ahead and wasted a pick on his replacement when he still has several years left in the tank. Watch him ask for a trade.

TBF, he strikes me as the kind of dude who is never happy.

I wonder if he is giong to give him the Brett Farve treatment when asked about mentoriing the rookie. "Its not my job, no one mentored me" (paraphrasing)

Packers have had back to back HoF QBs and how many Lombardi trophies do they have to show for it?

2... and I'd argue only one was won by QB play.

Precisely. Back to back HoF QBs and only 1 Lombardi each? They don't surround their QB with enough talent.

This seems like a really stupid move. Your team was one game away from the Super Bowl, they didn't really lose a whole lot in the off-season, your WR depth is garbage, and you're out here drafting future/backup quarterbacks in the first? Why? Spend the pick on a player that can help put your team over the hump and try to win another Super Bowl while you still have your actual future HoF quarterback. And not only do they do everything mentioned above, but they actually trade UP to make it all happen!

I'd be freakin' pissed if I were a Packers fan.

I feel bad for Rodgers. I understand they need to think about the future but they are a few explosive offensive weapons away from being dominant again

Tim Brady out here winning Super Bowls (6) with the equivalent of NFL G-Leaguers out there. His one HOF WR (Moss) they LOST the Super Bowl.

I do too. He's a brilliant QB who's never been given the weapons to truly be regular SB contenders. And I don't really understand this latest move.

They wasted a first round pick on a guy that wont see the field for 3 years and alienated their HOF QB. Stupid.

And if they think Love is going to get much in the way of coaching and mentoring from Rodgers I think they are somewhat mistaken.

I think Rodgers will realize he is now in the exact spot Brett Favre was in his career when the Pack took Rogers late in the first round 15 years ago.  Rodgers knows he won't play forever and the Pack have to have a successor in line, one they can let sit behind Rodgers for 2-3 years like Rodgers did for three before he took over from Favre.  The fact Rodgers was not rushed is likely why he's still performing at a high level at this stage of his career and Jordan Love will 3-4 years from now be able to take over having learned just like Rodgers did.

It was the correct move for the Pack.

How about getting your HOF QB some weapons? Plus you know how Rodgers is. They just killed the locker room. And you think he is gonna lift a finger to help this kid?

I bet Bret Favre enjoyed his night lol.

This move is to set the Pack up to be a serious contender long after Rodgers is gone.  Love is one who in other years might have been a high pick much the way Rodgers was expected to be in 2005 when he fell down like he did after the 49ers took Alex Smith.  Rodgers had the luxury of sitting behind Favre for three years and Love is going to likely be in the same boat.  They will have plenty of chances to get weapons for Rodgers in later rounds.

and you do not think Rodgers is going to make waves? I can see him demanding a trade. Have fun with Love Im out!

Wentz isn't going to be too happy either.

Turns out Rodgers was on board with the move.  He totally understands it because he was in the exact same position when he came into the NFL in 2005.

Oh well, I'd rather have my next hall of fame qb lined up then wait for his arm to fall off and suck arse for 10 years waiting for another to show up. Worked for them before. Also Rodgers is an arse and I don't care how he feels

I didn't realize they didn't draft him any WRs. That's just criminal. crap at least Howie drafted some even if he Fed up that 2nd rounder

FYP.

Rodgers spent all those years working with Coach McCarthy who was part of the 49ers team that picked Alex Smith over Rodgers. Now LaFleur comes in to coach; reportedly they had a rocky start last year. Then Packers trade up in the draft for QB, no WRs (but they got a RB and a TE). It seems like the Packers are looking ahead to the future with a starting QB entering the twilight phase of his career.

If this were a normal season, I feel like Rodgers might seek a trade. But without any spring practices and a possibly shortened summer camp, what good is it to get a fresh start now?
