I also think the HBO's budget and format also gives Oliver an unfair advantage for a direct comparison (MUCH harder to do a show every day than weekly). I like stewart. Oliver and maher? Never heard of them. Someone please post a link to anything they ever did that was actually funny or worthy of having their own show. Thanks

As for Stewart, never really was much of a fan. Not sure what it is, but I just didn't find him as funny as most people did.

I was being facetious.(i think that’s the proper use of the word) i mean, ive only watched a few segments of either over the years and always not laughed. Maher comes off as a flat deek that you just wonder how he made a career in entertainment and oliver is that guy who you want to show the door out of the country to.

He was my year and his crew and my crew often met out at parties, etc. and hung for the evening. I had a few classes with him as well. He was fun to hang around with for sure. A bit off the wall at times back then but yeah, good dude to have a few beers with for sure.

Most people on television who entertain me are people i could picture drinking a beer with. Amy there arent too many celebrities that do that for me

Here's one that isn't too "controversial" but I think it's a good representation of his show's style and humor.

What "digs" did he take at America? You responded 3 minutes after I posted a 15 minute clip and the only thing he said about America is that we don't like soccer, which is true. Methinks you're not as "flexible when it comes to entertainment" as you're pretending dude.

I could only watch soo much bro The piece was on fifa and its corruption(and america and the fbi) ok ill watch the whole thing. Im pretty certain ill regret it though.

But don't make stuff up though about "digs at America" or ask for clips then don't watch them to pretend that you're giving it a fair shake. It's fine to just plain not like something. I don't like "The Office", but I'm not gonna act like it's for some greater reason other than it's not my cuppa tea.

February 1, 20214 yr Most people don't want nuance, balance or to hear about both sides. They want to defend/excuse their side and attack the other side and "whatabout" all day.

It happens in sports, pop culture and other things. You have identity politics where people have to believe or vote based on some characteristic and not go against the grain. You express you dislike something and people assume you dislike everything on that side, and support everything on the other side. Nuance is lost, complexity is too much work. People want to cheer for a side and attack something else so they can feel good and righteous about the side they've chosen.

Then I know to adopt the exact opposite position.
