I dont have an issue with this at all. And its pretty clear that the Eagles are thinking about insurance and looking for a potential out of Carsons contract, if he does not stay healthy or is not performing with sustained success. 

And if they feel like Hurts could maybe be that dude? We'll see. 

I get that a lot of people love and worship Carson. But if the dude keeps getting hurt to the point where it affects his play - as he has every year. Then there are the locker room reports and Wentz even confirming that at times he had not been model or good teammate bc of feelings?

The Eagles have a 2021 buyout on that contract. And Hurts is insurance in case in this next season ish goes off the rails, and if it happens to they have some leverage. I dont know what it is, especially after they moved mountains to get Wentz? But the jury appears to be out. It seems like Wentz has Philadelphia Eagles problems from the top down in some way. I wish the kid the best and hope he balls out. But I'm not gonna cry over them drafting a guy that could potentially replace him for whatever reason. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Yeah...but only if he's actually good enough for teams to value him at that. Which, as we know, is far from a guarantee. This calculation is taking into account two things - that Hurt is a 2nd rounder, and that Hurt actually has to be successful in his development.  The 2nd round pick, we've already established...the development...well, we'll find out in 3 years.

Now you really need to think. If Wentz gets hurt (again) and Hurts plays himself to first round value (which means he’s pretty darn good) how in the world would you trade him and keep the older higher paid guy who got injured?

Anyone that thinks that if Wentz gets injured again and the rookie back-up comes in and lights it up, that at the very least we would not have a qb competition going into the next season? Let alone with a 2021 reworks option on Wentz's current contract that he would not be the qb in the cross hairs or expendable? Is not being honest with themselves.

Problem is Hurts is a pretty terrible QB prospect.

Actually, the more I think about it, Wentz might be gone before the season starts to the Patriots! If the preseason plays as normal and Hurts is doing good, you don't think Pats would be calling to trade a 1st and take over Wentz's contract?  I find it hard to believe Pats are content going into the season with Hoyer and Stidman as their QBs.

I don't know the specifics of Wentz's deal, but wouldn't accelerated money kill our cap?

Honestly I don't understand how trades vs salary cap works. If there's a way where to minimize the cap hit and have Pats take over Wentz contract I believe they would pull it off. He goes to the Pats, stays healthy for years and the Pats would be back on top of the NFL. I don't put nothing past Belichick. All I know is Wentz is now on the hot seat

The remaining signing bonus proration would get accelerated just like cutting the player would since it's money already paid. Any of the base salary that's guaranteed would follow the contract to the new team.

I've just accepted the fact that if Wentz gets hurt again and does finish the season then he's done here. They're just preparing for the Hurts era

A lot of you were done with Wentz during the season and said he needed to be traded. So I don't know what some of you are complaining about. 

Only controversy is on these boards and stupid media that some still listen to for some stupid reason
