I have no feelings, other than people should be less poor.

i'm betting most folks would love to be less poor.

i haven't done a lot of research on min wage...but my gut tells me that a jump from $7.25 to $15.00 is pretty drastic...and min wage probably shouldn't be crammed into the covid relief bill...especially since compromise no longer seems to exist in congress.

Yeah, I wasn’t a math major, but I’m pretty sure $15 is more than double $7.25

I’d love to double my income.  Lol

Republicans act like if the minimum wage was $15 everyone would go out and buy a new Lexus.

but a cheesy gordita crunch at taco bell would cost $25!

The primary Republican concern is that a $15 minimum wage could put many small businesses out of business. Another concern is that unemployment would rise when businesses would predictably shed positions. Mega corporations, that democrats used to hate, would easily be able to handle it and would welcome less competition.

Zero. The federal minimum wage should be zero.

Since we're advocating a return to the glory days of centuries passed, why not do away with all those pesky child labor laws while we're at it?

If I had to guess most people making less than $15 are on some sort of government assistance.

i don't feel completely right telling a mom & pop shop they have to pay their employees $15 an hour.

the flip side is, shouldnt this force many off welfare ? i mean, a person in Pennsy could use the reason that $7.25 cant support their family so they stay on welfare. well, at $15 doesn't that excuse go away for most ?

Oh look, here comes the liberal queefing. Let me make it clearer for you.

The FEDERAL minimum wage shouldn't exist. I said nothing about states. $15/hour in CA is a little different than $15/hour in South Dakota. It's idiotic policy. I personally would never support any minimum wage by any government -- people should be free to work for whatever wage they deem sufficient. Furthermore, the focus on nominal earnings as opposed to purchasing power reveals liberals' kindergarten level understanding of economics.

A company can leave a state that passes ridiculous labor regulations (min wage, union shops, etc.). The answer shouldn't be to try and chase them out of the country.

So you’d rather have more people on government assistance?  That’s dumb.

Pointing out your insanely antiquated view of the subject is "queefing," lol, ok. Your response certainly expelled much more vaginal gas than my initial reply did.

I'd rather people have to feel consequences for their poor decisions as opposed to rewarding them. Hey, you can't support your kids and decided to have MORE kids? Here's more money. Genius strategy.

I am logically consistent. We have fought a war on drugs for decades that has done nothing, and I want to end it. We have fought a war on poverty for over half a century, and you liberals keep telling me it has accomplished nothing. So...maybe try something new.

I support unemployment insurance funded by companies for assistance if someone is laid off. I don't support welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare or any other entitlement programs. And I will say outloud the part you think is a "gotcha" -- if someone dies because they can't afford medical care, I'll sleep fine. People need to be responsible for their own lives.

And seriously? Polos are delivered dude. Only the poors walk to stores.

If we’re being honest a lot of this policy dates back to the New Deal when Republicans had no answers for the scale of human suffering.
Up to that point the GOP had been able to block minimum wage laws.
