Wouldn’t anyone with a black girlfriend have to wonder as much about that as any other feature the baby might have?

No. 1 hour ago, Seventy_Yard_FG said: Wouldn’t anyone with a black girlfriend have to wonder as much about that as any other feature the baby might have? Yeah, I think that's natural. I could see the subject being touchy, though, and could easily be taken the wrong way if you're not diplomatic about it. I usually watch BBC News on weeknights, and they led off with this story, so I figured I'd give it the barest amount of attention since the Brits would probably give the fullest view of the story and I still came away feeling like this is largely, to quote a certain Englishman, much ado about nothing. I mean, I"m sure British royals are insufferable and I certainly respect the decision to break away and be independent, but when they ticked off what was divulged in that interview, it still failed to produce much more than an eyeroll in me. Other than the skin color comment, they led off the report about the beginnings of the rift that started with a she-said-she-said between Meghan and Kate, which seriously was reported as "Meghan said that Kate made her cry, but then Kate said that, no, it was Meghan who made her cry." .

Maybe they realize the rest of the world is more racist than the US including England and know how the tabloids would react ? Idk. I didn't watch that crap. Did they say why people were concerned?

We all do that. Wondering if the baby will have more of the father's features or the mother's. What color hair, etc....Heck we wondered that with our baby. I'm 50% greek, 50% italian. My wife is 25% Irish. So of course we wondered will our baby have fair skin or be more tan. Dark hair like my wife, or come out like me which somehow I was blonde until about age 7 and then turned into black hair (he came out blonde). At least with my son, we knew where that came from. I wonder what my dad was thinking when I was born with blond hair considering there was no other blondes in the family lol. But being "concerned"? That's a whole different story.

Looked totally lame at that level except for the skin color concerns.
March 9, 20214 yr I can't say I ever gave thought to the color of my daughters or granddaughters eye, hair, or skin color. Worried about number of arms and legs, toes and fingers, health, etc.

Do they generate a net profit for the UK (plus jobs) OR do they represent a net cost? I'm assuming they don't cancel themselves thru really bad handling of this and related topics. The things I've seen to date suggest that they are a big money maker and job producer for the UK. However, I have no idea if those studies were legit or who commissioned them. See I'm not so sure. They bring in a lot of tourism right? But I think people would still come to see Buckingham Palace and the other sites even if the monarchy was no longer active.
