If he plays well here in 2021, there’s a chance we’d be able to sign him to a longer deal next year when the cap will be up and we’ll be in a much better position to offer him more.  He could be our next Malcolm Jenkins and hold down one S spot for the next 3 years.

That’s the only benefit but if he’s taking a 1yr $5m deal with a team that has almost zero chance of making the playoffs, there must be very little demand for him.

I look at it as a 1 year audition from both sides.  If he ends up signing elsewhere and gets paid it’ll put us in position to get a decent com pick.

Can’t have rookies playing every position on defense. Like the signing a lot.

Nice one year deal. Wanted him last year. Will be an upgrade over Mills and the other JAGs.

Makes no sense in a rebuild year really. Hes a fine player just dont see the need for him on a 1 year deal with this team.

When was the last time Anything Howie did had logic and reason? I am with you. Let's give the young players more playing time instead signing  good players. Short term goals vs Long term   planning.

If nothing else it's gotta be a upgrade over Mills.

So he's an upgrade over a 7th round S pick that was asked to play CB.. who went on to lead the team in tackles and solo tackles in the super bowl, and also lead the team in passes defensed (tied Darby) in the super bowl. Well.. let's hope .. if we get back to the SB, and he's on the roster.. he plays as good as Mills did in the SB. Mills threw a blanket on Gronk in the 1st half. Not 1 but 2 drive killing passes defensed, both on Gronk. 1 preventing a 1st down at our 8 yard line on a 4th and 5, and the other literally preventing a TD and forcing a FG.

I hate watching guys age before our eyes so, this short contract is good. He should give the Eagles a good year of work.

Very good player and on a one year deal this makes sense. Shame its not Hooker but still a very good addition to our secondary.

Gimme Hooker 😤

Pretty good move. But F Howie anyway! 😂

I like the player,, this is a solid signing normal year, but 5million is a lot of money when we have very little to spend, I don't understand the the thinking here.

Our secondary is a mess? We don't have any safeties really bud. McLeod likely misses some of the year (plus who knows how healthy he will be). Wallace didn't play a lot last year and was a fourth round pick so not sure what he's going to be able to do if he were a starter. So yeah the cupboard is pretty bare.

At the moment with this signing we don't have enough money to sign our draft picks and be cap compliant. That's what I don't understand, I understand the state of the roster all too well.

Ertz will go, I'd imagine Cox will be restructured and there will be other moves made bud. Howie is a weasel but he'll sort the cap. Sure he'll kick the can and it may impact us later but he'll sort it.

So it.s a good move as we have a new DC with a new system that apparently he will be familar with. Gannon apparentley runs a Zimmer style Defense

and Harris having played in Zimmers system could be a great benefit. Hope this means we also are going after the Vikings LB Eric Wilson...

We;ll see an addional $4M in cap relief after June 1st (Jeffery and MJackson).  Perhaps they continue to work on a multi-year extension for Barnett to reduce his $10M cap hit.  I also think they'll want to give an extension to Cox since he is only signed through next year currently and his 2021 cap number is enormous ($23.9M).

Thus far we are carrying $14.5M in dead money against the 2022 cap (following the use of the post June 1 designations on Jeffery and Malik Jackson).  Although some who are not under contract after 2021 but will still carry a cap hit (like McLeod) due to dummy years added to spread out bonuses (following restructures).  I suppose OTC doesn't currently consider that "dead money" since they are still employed here?  Anyway, we knew this was likely going to be a 2 year process to deal with the cap mess.

Pretty pleased with this. Good value and clearly a choice of Gannon

Absolutely love this move. Wallace/draft picks will get opportunities with McLeod injured and if the Eagles use three safeties.

He was decent last year but great in 2018 and 2019. Still not that old.

If he is good, we could get him extended or could attract a nice comp pick.

Great move.

Anyone complaining about this move in even the slightest bit is brain dead. Rebuilding or not you still have to put a team out on the field. They had NOTHING at Safety considering McLeod might not be back until late in the season if at all. Now at least they have one good/to really good starting NFL safety on their roster. This won't preclude them from drafting a safety in the 2nd or 3rd round, but if doesn't make them desperate to have to do so. 5 million for Harris is also a bargain.

The Eagles FO thinks they can compete and win in our division so they have to put out a competitive team. I'm okay with this signing.

Nice player but what’s the point...1 year deal.

I’d rather carry the cap space over to next year and let one of the younger safeties get some playing time.

Wallace will get some significant playing time but he'll only be a 2nd year guy. We need a vet presence in the backfield along with mccleod.

I was impressed with Marcus Epps last year. In fact, I think he played better than Wallace. Heck, he led the Eagles in interceptions with limited playing time. I always thought Epps was a JAG but maybe he can develop into something.

Solid player. Good signing.

I am for every at least decent guy to Defense
