The Eagles are bringing Joe Flacco in for a visit according to multiple platforms:

https://www.phillyvoice.com/report-eagles-bring-joe-flacco-for-visit-backup-quarterback/

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/03/22/joe-flacco-will-visit-the-eagles/

He certainly fits the profile of what the Eagles need at this point: respected veteran, not a threat to the incumbent, can mentor about the league on and off the field.  Played well enough in limited action with the Jets last year.  Affordable and a local guy.

Edit: Mods - if this fits better folded into the larger free agency thread have at it, but all things considered I thought this might work as a stand alone.  Thanks.

As a vet backup and then a day 3 guy in the draft (Mills, Mond, Buechele, etc.) I'm ok with Joe.  Would have rather gone Tyrod though.

Each FA signing and draft pick should have their own topic so all good.  I just try to merge duplicate topics mostly.

Honetly, when it's said and done, I wouldn't be surprised if Mond turns out to be the best QB in this year's draft, he kinda reminds me of Joe Montana.....dude has something.

Yeah I can’t see them being able to run the same style of offense they will run with Jalen for Joe.  I get the mentorship aspect but I can’t see him coming in and winning games running remotely the same offense.

Nick has been going on and on about how he can design an offense for more than 1 QB style. We'll see

To be honest Flacco sucks ass. If we get him super cheap, lets pray he never sees the field. Ever.

Honestly no matter which vet we sign I hope he never sees the field.  I want Hurts to stay healthy.  🙂

Obviously. But with Hurts running the ball quite a bit, he might miss a game or two. If Foles was the backup - no problem. Flacco? Bleh.

I’m not thinking we’re going to be competitive in 2021 regardless, so who might come in should Hurts get injured is somewhat meaningless to me.  I’d prefer someone who is a good mentor and good locker room presence.  I don’t know if Flacco is that.  To me the immediate focus is all about getting the young players as ready as possible which includes a young QB we likely draft and groom to eventually be a long term backup.

I don't like the idea of paying a guy to "be nice" or to "have ideas for the offense" (I mean, wtf?)

I want players that can play. And Flacco sucks.
