The thing is when you’re perceived as a poorly run organization you sometimes have to overpay for a player. A one year overpay doesn’t hurt like overpaying a quarterback that has a meltdown and wants to be traded soon after he signs his contract. Unless Flacco gets in there and plays well he’s probably gone after the season anyways.

Very true but in this year of all years I just think they should have gone for an even cheaper option.

This is the same organization that gave Chase Daniels 21mil, while they were overpaying Sleeves, and drafting Wentz.

The haven't been able to get it right at QB for 11 years - since they got rid of McNabb - and the Wentz debacle is one of the worst episodes in Philly sports history.  It's beyond alarming at this point.

Yet the somehow stumbled and humbled their way to a Super Bowl with the one quarterback they clearly never wanted. Howie made it no secret he would have drafted Wilson over Foles. Somehow this is the type of stuff that makes Lurie think Howie’s the guy. He gets credit for guys other people drafted for some reason.

Exactly. People make it seem like every move Howie made after he came back was great, but that Daniels contract was one of his first moves and that was horrible.

I mean on face value it was terrible yes. I guess we don't know how much of a role Chase had in supporting and mentoring Carson. Once they made the decision to trade Sammy Sleeves and name Carson the starter perhaps his role took on additional importance? Still the contract was rather ridiculous.

Considering they dumped Daniels for Foles in one year my guess is his contribution was collecting a check at most.

Well they did that after the first year you mean? I mean yeah sure but then Foles was an upgrade over Chase in terms of what he could do on the field plus he brought the experience with him.

People seem more upset about Flacco but, not Daniel who made 7 million per season with us and is still one of the highest paid back ups in the league!!

Well yeah I mean sure the Chase deal is ridiculous but the Flacco deal is the here and now. $3.5M for one year for a guy who didn't get that much last year and has done nothing in the last year to warrant getting more. In a year when the cap has gone down and the team is right up against the cap.

Flacco is at least a SB champ. What the heck did Daniels do to deserve the money he got?

Bringing back Foles was Howie’s best move. Giving Daniels that contract could be his worst. Nah check that. Drafting a quarterback in the second round and not realizing that move could ruin his starter was worse.

Chase Daniels is a perfect comparison. Sleeves cannot be considered overpayed, as this was clearly all a scheme to screw over the Vikings. 

And the Wentz draft looked very smart for years before Wentz imploded.

I mean look... We don't know that drafting Hurts then ruined Wentz. We suspect and it seems there is a good chance that is what happened but we don't know that for sure. And if drafting a second round QB is going to ruin your franchise QB then quite frankly you've got the wrong franchise QB anyway.

Wentz is emotionally, mentally and physically fragile.  That's never going to work in Philadelphia.

I agree with this. You know I do. 😂 Still there are extenuating circumstances here. Foles did win that Super Bowl with his team. Foles did lead them to the playoffs and won a playoff the following year when Wentz floundered in what was supposed to be his year. When he’s finally free of the Foles shadow they cast a Hurts one. That’s a lot to deal with especially for a mentally weak guy like Wentz.

Also has one of the greatest playoff runs and super bowl in history.... Until Foles came along but, I think Flacco still.has the highest QB rating in a playoff run.
