March 1, 20214 yr Congress is the govt body who would authorize any spending (particularly for social programs) so the WH moving on reparations without Congress doesn’t mean much to me.

So it means nothing that the supposedly "moderate" leader of the party is pushing hard for this "study?" So you think the ever-growing progressive, young branch of the party is going to pump the brakes at some point? lol

Did you know Reagan signed a reparations bill??

Why is it you're always 5 steps behind everyone else?

Over the next four years you're going to hear quite a bit about reparations in both the news media and from mainstream, prominent dem politicians pushing the idea. I'll bump this thread to remind you occasionally.

Quite a limited payback though both in terms of eligibility and amount. A bit different then the things we've been discussing the last decade or so. However, a reparations bill in any case, yes.

But if you look at the Axios article pallidrone posted above, Cedric Richmond isn't talking about direct checks at all. As opposed to what Reagan signed.

Yeah, not much in the way of real ideas but rather the idea of putting together a commission. The black college free tuition idea is interesting of course though even that will be put to the test as we hit the details.

I’d guess that free tuition at historically black colleges would lead to increased enrollment... it’s an interesting discussion for sure.
