I'd have to think that's the reference. Card is a pretty weird dude with some questionable political and social views, but I enjoy his books. Ender's Shadow was a thoroughly enjoyable look back after reading through the "original" series.

I started with Heinlein but it was a little above my "pay grade" at age ten (still, it had me interested). I ended up reading everything Asimov ever wrote. Anyway, I still think of Ender anytime I think of SciFi literature. And it really held up as prescient, IMO. I actually think they did a decent job with the movie, too, but as always they didn't have the grapes to keep it going.
