Infam
Felt like giving it another go, now that we have seen some pro days and FA. FA: a) Sign Avery Williamson (LB) on a one year 5M$ contract. Rebuilding the very young and after the draft even younger Eagles needs veteran leaders. And with Williamson we get a good player. This gives us a veteran that could lead with his play at every position of the defense (Cox, Graham, Williamson, Slay, Harris). b) Resign Cre'Von LeBlanc (CB) to a minimum contract. He is a solid backup slot corner, and deserves another year in the new defense. Trades: a) We go the smart route and trade down with the Raiders, who go and draft a QB. Our first (6) for their first (17) and their 2022 first. b) When Creed Humphrey starts falling, we trade back up in the second to grab him. Both our thirds (70 and 84) for their second (58) and third (104). c) Trade Ertz to the Colts for a 2022 fourth. Draft: 1 (17): Jaylen Waddle (WR). Sure, the projections are slowly pointing to all three top WR drafted in the top 10. And maybe they are, but I have the feeling that Waddle still is a bit unappreciated behind Smith and Chase. He is an excellent receiver though and would be a steal at 17. I know many think we already have Reagor and need an X. But I believe this way of looking at it doesn't hold the same sway with our new look offense and dual run threat. If you play TE/ slot WR for the intermediate routes and you can run the ball with your QB and RB two speedsters are actually better than the traditional contested catch X. Leave the red zone targets to the TE then and go all fun speed kills with Waddle and Reagor. 2 (37): Pat Freiermuth (TE). To me he is another excellent TE that can catch and block and has still a lot of room to get better. Paired with Goedert we get two TEs that help our run game with elite blocking, but can catch the ball too. Never underestimate the value of good blocking. Double TE sets with two speedsters should be brutal moving forward. I think Freiermuth is just the kind of prospect that "falls" to the early second, and I would be very happy if we could grab yet another elite TE in the second. 2 (58): Creed Humphrey (C). In my opinion one of the best OL available this year. For some reason he is "sliding" down in the projections. He could be a great center for us moving forward. Familiarity with Hurts doesn't hurt either (sorry). At the end of the second feels like perfect value at a position of future need. Let him learn from the best (Kelce) and be happy about this pick for years to come. 3 (104): Israel Mukuamu (CB). I don't get how he doesn't even make the top 17 CBs at CBS, but in my mind at the end of day two is the latest I could see him go. From all I can see he is an excellent CB with great length (6'4") and very good positioning. If he goes in the second I'd not be surprised at all. Yet, as this is another of my optimistic mocks, we grab him at the end of day 2 and I'll be damned if that is not a big time steal right there. 5 (150): Ramondre Stevenson (RB). Yeah, now he is projected to be a very late third - but he is a RB and has plenty other RBs rated higher so I feel confident saying he will be a day three pick. I think he is the most underrated RB this year, and a perfect smashing thunder to Sanders lightning. Measuring in at 6"0' 246 he won't get stopped easy, and if you (like me) just love watching highlights of a RB trucking over defenders treat yourself to a youtube clip of this one and thank me later. 5 (156): Jamie Newman (QB). So here comes the developmental QB to complete the QB room. He could've been a third if he looked better, but a somewhat bad senior bowl certainly hurt his stock. But if you took the time to watch him play a bit you will see that he has all the traits, just needs some decent coaching. And what is more, he is a lot like Hurts in the way he plays. Worse, sure. But with a lot of potential. So, drafting him in the fifth to coach him up and try your luck seems like a good idea to me. 6 (189): Chauncey Golston (DE). Can't have enough DEs. He's got all the physical tools, and fits the type of DE the Eagles look for. Should be a good fit here and well worth taking a shot on in the sixth. 6 (224): Jay Lenard (S). Tackling machine. See him as a really good ST player with the potential to be a very decent rotational Safety for us. 6 (225): Max Duffy (P). Who knows, maybe some team decides to go punter early. But I think we can't resist drafting a really good one here if he still is available in the sixth. Like the attitude, like that he can do it with both legs, like his overall demeanor. It's between his power leg versus the high precision of James Smith. I think precision can be trained, power and ambidexterity is a lot harder, so lets go with another Australian. 7 (234): Kary Vincent (CB). Speedster slot corner. Only 5'10" 189, but with a track background. Looked pretty good to me. 7 (240): Mustafa Johnson (DT). Yeah I know, a DT at 6'0" and 280 is very undersized. But he has shown some spirit, and I think here in the seventh he is worth a try. If he can add some more muscle, I can see him develop into a decent rotational DT. Offense: QB - Hurts, Flacco, Newman WR - Reagor, Waddle, Ward, Fulgham, Watkins, JJaw TE - Goedert, Freiermuth, Wilson RB - Sanders, Stevenson, Scott OL - Mailata, Seumalo, Kelce, Brooks, Johnson, Dillard, Humphrey, Driscoll, Herbig Defense: DT - Cox, Hargrave, Ridgeway, Johnson DE - Graham, Barnett, Sweat, Ostman, Golston CB - Slay, Mukuamu, Maddox, LeBlanc, Vincent S - Harris, McLeod, Riley, Wallace, Adams, Lenard LB - Williamson, Singleton, Edwards, Taylor, Avery Really like how the offense turned out though the secondary (especially at CB) still is not in good shape. But we won't be able to do everything at once, so the defense will be upgraded more in 2022, in this scenario we would probably have three first round picks in 2022 to build a roster.

I love the Stevenson pick but I doubt if he'll be there in the 5th, it's a shame we don't have a 4th, in light of that you'd better take him in the 3rd. If Kellen Mond in there in the 5th he'd be my move at QB. I'd also like to get David Moore from Grambling, we need to replace Seumalo, currently he's the weakest link on the OL, from what I understand Moore was outstanding at the Senior Bowl so I'm thinking he's the 2nd 3rd.

Well, not only did we get that extra first by trading down to only 12, making Waddle even more realistic.. we too got that fourth to draft Stevenson. Cheers! Outlaw
I hate that CB room. Only two outside corners. I want to see a double dip at CB this year. One on day 1/2 and another on day 3.

But no matter how you do it, there will be more positions to fill, which is why I thought a third first in 2022 would be awesome for that. I want the offense fixed first. It's more important for this year. And besides: You only now want to draft defense because you are not going to get your guy for the offense so.. hardly your plan all along either. Cox in 2012? You have a ton of youth on offense. Not saying we neglect it this year but guys like Reagor, Sanders, Goedert, Hightower, Watkins, Hurts obviously are young and deserve a time to prove themselves in this new system. We have 1 CB I trust in Slay and even he had a so so year, 2 dlineman in Cox/Graham who are both getting long in the tooth, and 1 LB who we don’t know yet if he was a massive overachiever or a hidden gem in Singleton. Simply put, there is far more youth and potential on O than on D.

Trading up into R2 for a C? And taking a TE who is definitely not on Pitts’ level of athleticism or versatility. You change Freiermuth to a Samuel, Newsome, Stokes, etc and your draft takes a much better turn IMO. Best part is no matter how much you and I go back and forth on our picks, we’d both be lucky to get 2-3 picks right. Lol. Would love your opinion on my mock I posted today here in this forum. I really don't get why people don't see Freiermuth for what he is: A TE that can block and catch with the best of them. Ertz will be gone eventually, and we need a replacement. And he pretty much is our only option for a really good second TE. There is nobody out there that comes close to Freiermuth and Pitts. And yeah, depending on what you actually want to do, Freiermuth is better. Because of his excellent blocking. When I do my mock, I try and ask myself: How would the offense work like this? In this case you go with double speedster WR and double blocking TE. Which enables and is enabled by the run game of Sanders and Hurts. I think in games, that would change the whole approach into something that actually works. As for Humphrey: I am not a fan of drafting people after the guy in front of them retires. I want to draft guys that can learn from the best and then be ready when their time comes. And until then we can replace if someone gets hurt. So yes, now is the perfect time for a center, to learn from Kelce and be there if Kelce ever misses time. You go your way, but I stand by my reasoning for day 2, and think if we get Freiermuth, Humphrey and Mukuamu we'd be very lucky, as all fill big time needs at the right time.

Right4thePicking
I love this draft. But I would probably take the best lber, safety or bateman in the first. Waddle won't be there.
