It doesn't mean abandoning trans rights or the fairness of treatment of trans people. Honestly, this one is a no brainer and very very simple.I agree. I could give a F about that ruling. If anything, I think it's a good thing. But the left can't move in unison. Obviously, there's going to be a contingent that's gonna be pissed about it. I just hope there's a few 2028 candidates that ignore that or have figured out that pissing off a few pet issue leftists is actually kind of a good thing for their broader appeal.
June 30Jun 30 Then there's this oneMy condolences to the Constitution-hating fascists that don't get to see their fellow American citizens dragged from their homes and shipped off to all corners of the world.
June 30Jun 30 multiple wins for team sanity today. states can enact laws maintaining women sports for biological females only, and the president can't try to use a "time's have changed" argument to overturn the 14th amendment.

That's a pretty damning indictment of the court, even though sanity held the line in the end.

They’d gain a far larger chunk in the middle or thru lazy MAGA non voters than the smaller number of left idiots that protest and not vote.

It wasn't the case with something like Israel, because the far left was on the right side of that issue. But a sports classification issue? Who gives a F. The counter-arguments to this case specifically (which usually isn't made, it's normally wrapped in some broad, random, "you're killing trans people" hyperbole) are ridiculous. It's a case that effects a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of people and it's about competitive advantages in college sports. It's an insane hill to die on.

It's an insane hill to die on.The main argument I see time and again is that no one should care about it because it is such a small number of people affected. That actually strengthens the idea of agreeing with the majority here and taking away the most obvious trans argument from MAGA.

June 30Jun 30 Trans only got attention because of the swimmer who was a man and was only average and then he changed his sex and became a dominant female swimmer. And why? Because her bone structure and muscle mass were different then biological women which gave him an unfair advantage. Other than that, I am not aware of any Trans athlete problems in sports or in bathrooms for that matter. I have seen men wearing dresses, with a beard, and army boots holding his small child's hand at the Acme. I thought whatever floats your boat, I wasn't concerned he may follow me into the bathroom. The way I see it, if they want to play sports, they should have their own league. The Trans league. Open to both Trans Men and Trans Women.

June 30Jun 30 More corruption. Justice Thomas had a meeting with the Speaker of the House. That's illegal.
June 30Jun 30 @jsdarkstar The meeting isn't illegal but there's definitely ethical concerns attached to it. Meetings have happened in the past for administrative discussions and even educational purposes. Private one-on-one meetings like this always raise concerns. Maybe a brief statement from Johnson as to the general nature of the meeting would allay fears of impropriety.

But, hey if we're going down this road, then a whole bunch of sheets on the table. Do we really think the founders could have anticipated a trillionaire buying elections while he spends all day on his worldwide interconnected raycism machine or a cadre of future tech billionaires manipulating US policy in order to usher in some Matrix-style hellscape by feeding the populace dopamine hits in exchange for unfettered market consolidation? There's just a whole lot of areas that touch modern life that would cause George Washington to freak the F out.

There were lots of college women boycotting their own sport because they were letting trans athletes participate. It wasn't just swimming. Volleyball, basketball, etc. You name it there was probably a boycott.

"In Second Amendment cases, this Court applies the Amendment to semi-automatic handguns even though those did not exist in 1791 or 1868"lol does he not realize the other side of that argument? Right, semi-automatic handguns and assault rifles did not exist in 1791, so using his logic one could argue that semi-automat weapons shouldn't be given 2A protections as times have changed....
