So, valid points. Except the entire division stinks despite their picks. And there are teams out there who are more often picking later in the rounds that manage to add talent. It's why I argued that the chances of Howie making a good pick increase the higher the pick, the lower they trade back the expected top talent is gone and then he has to make an actual decision and make a tougher choice. Teams don't nail the draft every year, we all know it's a crap shoot to an extent where you have surprise busts and surprise gems and all that. But overall you build a team through the draft and mitigate the misses. Howie has continually drafted so badly that he's relied on free agency and trades to make up for it, or extended Reid's players to keep them on life support.

Dude can can run a 4.1 40, if he’s grabbing receivers 15-20 yards down field he’ll get holding calls, and if he’s touching WR’s who are targeted those will be PI calls. The kid is obviously good, but he doesn’t cover like Farley and he doesn’t have the football instincts of Surtain. Surtain should be better in the NFL than he was in college, almost all college corners get beat on slants and go’s with a double move, Horn did, Surtain really didn’t, plus he didn’t take off part of the season or the entire season.

Howie has continually drafted so badly that he's relied on free agency and trades to make up for it, or extended Reid's players to keep them on life support. We have seen plenty of teams that draft mostly in the bottom half of rounds who have maintained at least a level of success, and plenty who seem to draft in the top 10 pretty much every year. As you said, the draft is always a bit of a crap shoot, but the teams with solid management will always find a way to maximize their picks and, just as importantly, build properly around those picks with smart depth signings, and by understanding when to cut bait on players and who to extend. These are all things that have been done in typical half-assed manner by the inferior management here. It also has a ton to do with always having an eye on the future with regard to the roster and the draft (even when you are 'going for it', which the better run franchises are more often than not), and the coaching staff having the ability to coach up and maximize the young talent. One of the keys is to find a QB you can win with and build around for several years, and not to miss on using major draft capital on a QB, which can set a team back for years. We are seeing that firsthand here, and without the miracle that was 2017 the last decade would look very different. Roseman created the problem by making the cardinal errors of trying to hold on to the core of a roster that won but was far from elite, signing a QB the franchise wasn't 100% convinced was the answer to a monster contract, then undermining that QB in every conceivable way until being forced to dump him. The fact that all this has gone on and the architect remains in the power position is just staggering, the absolute height of dysfunction.

Who are all this other players you are talking about?..because I did not mention them...I was talking strictly round 1 choices..

March 31, 20214 yr I was not enamored with Wentz but his offensive weapons were soooo limited. Wonder how he would have done if he had Chase to throw to? Maybe that yould have been a better move=keeping him and getting him some weapons. Because those future first rounders could be readly down the list, then we are back to trying to make the right pick, which Howie not any good at doing.

One thing is for absolute sure - if Wentz thrives in Indy and fulfills his draft pedigree, it is yet another major indictment of Roseman and Pederson for the way they handled the situation both on the field and in the failure to acquire the talent to build a real offense around Wentz.
March 31, 20214 yr 1st - Surtain/Horn 2nd - Bateman (if he drops) or Terrance Marshall? 3rd - Any combo of DE, OL, LB I like Wiggins as a later round pick at safety. Also need another CB or two rounds 4-7.
March 31, 20214 yr I see Chase and Pitts crushed their workouts. I know others have also and went on to flop. But these two seem genuine....and the Eagles have no chance right now to get either one. Again we will have a boatload of #2 receivers, and no game changers. And the premise was to give Hurts weapons........
April 1, 20214 yr Christian Barmore, he will have more of a impact on the Eagles success than any player in the draft outside of QBs.

April 1, 20214 yr I am fine with trading back because it got them an extra first rounder next year. Just gotta hope whoever is there they take the correct choice and he can make an immediate impact. On a rebuilding team they can't afford to miss in the first round, especially in year one of a rebuild.
