The main challenge that will differentiate Sirianni is that he has to figure out if Hurts will be "the guy" or not. So, he may get a 1 year mulligan to determine that. If Hurts proves to not be the guy and they have to get their QB in the 2022 draft...Sirianni will likely get at least 2 years with that QB. In any case, if you had to bet whether or not Sirianni will lead the Eagles to the playoffs at least once before he leaves town, the safe bet would be "yes", he would....just based on Lurie's track record of hiring coaches (which is the only thing we can go on at this point). I don't know if a new hire head coach has been handed a cupboard this bare before though. I guess we'll see.

But based on what I have heard from him, I will hold my word and admit I'm wrong if this guy exceeds my expectations.... which are I give him 3 years tops and that's being nice. I expect a very tough season this year. A league high 11 picks this year to work with in the draft along with a potential 3 in the first round next year. We have no clue what his coaching philosophy will be and his offensive scheme. Sanders is my favorite Eagle and more often than not Doug has been killed for not running the ball enough. Sanders should have a huge year this season. I honestly don't think this guy knows what he got himself into here in Philly. He won't last long....not because of the team but because of the city of Philadelphia. I'll look back at this post down the road and admit I was wrong if this guy turns out to be better than what I think. I'm trying to stay optimistic and be fair and that's because we still have the draft and the team hasn't even taken the field yet under Sirianni. You're just having doubts about Sirianni now?? Heck I am waaaaaaay ahead of you ... I've already begun the process of doubting the next HC!

March 31, 20214 yr Best to have no expectations and just see what happens. Let's wait and see how the team responds to him. Lurie said the one thing that stood out about him during the 2 days they spent with him, was that he is a GREAT communicator. I haven't seen that yet. I've seen the opposite. Sirianni may be the least of the Eagles' problems. Time will tell.
March 31, 20214 yr I mean look... So far he's been less than impressive but ultimately a HC does their talking with performances on the field and wins. If Sirianni helps to rebuild this team and takes it in the right direction then who cares about how he handles the media and press conferences? I think ESP made a good point on one of the Go Birds pods. He said that Sirianni is actually pretty good when he keeps his answers shorter than a minute. He answers the question and you think "OK that was pretty good" but then he waffles and goes down all sorts of avenues. It just comes across a little like he's bumbling along but I think part of that is nerves, excitement and just lack of experience in the job.
March 31, 20214 yr I really want to know why you are having doubts. Is it because of his press conference? Yo, we didn’t hire this guy to give great pressers. I don’t care how bad he is there. His rep is a smart football guy, hard worker, and he’s already surrounded himself with some great coordinators. He’s also going to install an offense that’s ideal for Jalen. I don’t expect a winning season, but it could be entertaining.

March 31, 20214 yr His performance in pressers has zero effect on my thoughts on him. Doesn’t move the needle in any way. Does he get the team prepared? Do the players, no matter how bad they are as a team, appear to play hard for him with no quit? Do players seem to improve and develop well? That’s what I’ll ultimately judge him on.

March 31, 20214 yr If nothing else, I expect him to at least coach like he gives a crap. That should be an improvement over last year. And if he bombs, Burns and Smithers have nobody to hide behind.

Like other posters, I think it's premature to react to the Football Sirianni. I agree with you on the Philly issue tho. This guy may very well end up in the fetal position after one really bad loss---of which we may have several this year.
March 31, 20214 yr My feelings on Sirianni are the same as my feelings on Hurts. It’s way too early to tell and I’m going to let it all play out before I’m ready to judge him.

Sirianni never coached a game as a head coach.
April 1, 20214 yr There are a huge set of learning curves that he will have to go through. We'll know pretty quickly how he is with time management, play calling, game planning and player preparation. If we see common mistakes does he fix them or keep making the same mistakes?
April 1, 20214 yr I am pretty neutral right now. The signing came out of nowhere and was not on any radars it seemed for any head coaching jobs. But hopefully he pans out and becomes the coach for the next 10+ years. I just know the first year is going to be a tough one. But hopefully year two will be better.

How good of a coach Sirianni is will also have an effect on how good of a player Hurts will be too.

Two years later another coach the fans doubted won a Super Bowl, but like you wrote we shall see.

He just wasn't a very good nfl coach as he didn't like big personalities and didn't adjust his scheme at all. The team had talent, it certainly had foundational talent.
