Hey, if this means women's sports might actually be watchable, I'm for it. Megan Rapinoe wants to be paid the same as men? Then compete against them.

co-ed sports - the wave of the future.

no thank you.

Better than forcing leagues like the NBA to lose millions on the WNBA because of political correctness.

And the problem is?

On the professional level, sports leagues shouldn't exist if there isn't market demand for the product. The WNBA shouldn't exist. Professional women's soccer shouldn't exist.

i didn't say there was one.

the only women's sport i occasionally watch is women's beach volleyball during the summer olympics.

Since nobody else is answering the original question...I'll take a stab.

If the ultimate selections for elite units (or any other units) are based on merit and earned then I see no reason why allowing diverse candidates into these units would hurt their effectiveness.

However, if we are offering preferential treatment, or worse yet, mandating diversity quotas in each unit, then yes...I believe it may very well weaken our abilities.

All that being said, if you want to open up Ranger school, BUDS and other elite certification courses to women and others then be my guest.  If they make it, good for them.

I mean, I get what you are saying, but I'm still not there. For the entirety of human existence on this planet, men have been protectors, women nurturers. Our brains and bodies are wired this way for a reason. Men are larger, more athletic, more aggressive. They are mentally and physically built for war more than women. For thousands of years we have accepted this. Why is it now virtuous to send young women to die in combat or place them at risk? On the one hand it's funny that the "woke" "progressive" position on the subject is to send young women into deadly combat situations. Needless to say that if women are captured, they will be subjected to unimaginable abuse that male soldiers typically wouldn't have to worry about.

Honestly, there's probably no better example of the degeneracy and decline of our culture. That approving of women in the military is considered the only moral, socially acceptable position to have, and if you don't agree you're a sexist misogynist.

Let me be more specific. The WNBA shouldn't exist as it currently does, playing in massive arenas. The league should have started like the NBA did -- in small arenas, trying to profitability build an audience. But to be PC, we have to put them in the Staples Center and on ESPN, despite no one giving a damn about the product. It's brutal. And then listen to Megan Rapinoe cry that she "gets paid less to do the same job as men." Gee Megan, what are the rights fees for the Men's World Cup vs. the Women's World Cup?

Want the same pay? Generate the same revenue of feel free to STFU.

Right - because EVERYONE knows that Hitler was a "middling water color artist" - that's a totally normal thing to have knowledge and instant recollection of.

If only the Vienna Art Institute had accepted him...great historical what-if? Same with if had Fidel Castro made the majors (which he was never close to, but the story persists).

Women don't want to be protected anymore and they sure as hell don't want men looking out for them and making decisions for them.  They have made this abundantly clear.

No one is forcing women to do anything in this scenario.  If they want to put themselves through hell to join these units then that's on them.  If they fail the training, die in combat or get brutally raped in a detention cell somewhere that's also on them.  Just the same way it's on a male solider if they suffer some terrible fate.

I'm fine to let them try their hand at this stuff, but I better not hear a single Fn word about the process being unfair to women if they fail.

Here are some of the elite athletes that could really enhance our combat units:

The ignorance shown is identical to that of a moronic teenager walking around wearing a Che Guevara shirt.

That said, page one is one of the best demonstrations of troll-the-troll that I've ever seen on this forum.

Bravo @Gannan.

I got a crisp hundred dollar bill that any of the athletes playing in this game would absolutely embarrass you in a game of 1 on 1.

Yeah, but how many of them could clear a parking lot of shopping carts as fast as he can?

And yet, I posted a topic that's kind of serious and you've yet to engage beyond calling me a troll several times and cheering on people who are comparing Hitler favorably to Trump.
