I heard about some people I know getting the vaccine and I was surprised because I didn't think they were in group 1A. Well, apparently they're not and just lied. I refuse to do that but was wondering what the general feel is here and if anyone has actually lied to get a vaccine (for example, saying you're a smoker when you're not).

yeah, i think the group 1A stuff was just put out there in the hopes that folks would sort of self regulate when to get the vaccine. it's not like all the vaccine locations are checking to see if you really have asthma or smoke. i received mine at my doctor's office so i couldn't lie about anything...but i'm actually shocked more people aren't.

Might have been a crappy thing to do in January. But now? I couldn't care less. If high risk people haven't gotten it by now, then I have no sympathy for challenges caused by their own laziness.

Of course it’s wrong. You should turn them in. They need to be made an example of.

Sadly, it would be quite a few people to turn in. It is what it is. It's a haphazard roll out and people are taking advantage.

In all fairness, some places are filling up quickly by 12:01am when registration opens. I know when I check places near me most are "sold out". A lot of people can't travel 25+ miles.

I don't know a single eligible person who wanted a vaccine that didn't get one by now. It just takes effort and diligence. If people can't take even that modicum of responsibility, then I have zero sympathy for them.

I assume you are "indifferent"  I refuse to lie. I'll get it when I'm actually eligible.

Older people also aren't as tech savvy or just don't know which places they can call to book an appt. I've become the vaccine appointment booker for friends and family. They were shocked at how soon I was able to get them in at pharmacies because they thought they could just call up and go in to get one with their doctor. The community clinics were a mess too with long wait times and tied up phone lines.

I got it once I was eligible. I kept checking the websites every morning, finally got an appointment.

Truth be told, we should have just let people pay up for early access. Raise money to help accelerate production. But no, we have to make sure the poor and lazy get first crack at it.

Elderly aren't always lazy, they just grew up in an era where the internet wasn't a thing.

And they had their window. If they didn't have the motivation to get it by now, then screw them. Every state should be open to every person above 16 at this point.

Is it only fair if we send a doctor to each person's house so that they don't have to take any responsibility for their own lives? It's ridiculous.

I got it in Bama when I'm not a resident, so that's technically dishonest, though if I had lived in Bama I would've been eligible.

I thought you'd meet the >30 BMI requirement.

Turn them all in.  You could probably get a Crimestoppers reward for each one.

Look, it's simple. We gave them a window for priority access. It's like letting the bad parents that can't control their children board a plane first -- it's ridiculous, but we allow it. But now people seem to be advocating that since some of them didn't take advantage of it, we should hold back rolling this out to everyone until every old, sick person who can't get off their arse to learn the internet gets a shot. Well, to hell with that. If you didn't pre-board when you had the chance, you and your kids (and grandma) can wait for your group number. We have the supply and it's past time to allow everyone who wants a shot to get one.

You don't inconvenience 80% of people because people in the priority group can't get off their arse. You give them a window for priority access, and then you open it up after a reasonable amount of time. That amount of time has passed.

It still baffles me that they didn't come out last year and offer priority access to like 1 million people who put up $2,000 each to help build out production capabilities and logistics for distribution. There's $2 billion of private funding right there. But no, we can't do things that are logical.

We're still in that window. Distribution in many counties has not been adequate at all.

I’ve gained some weight during the pandemic.  But didn’t think I met the BMI eligibility.  I mean, sure I gained a few pounds, but I don’t really look like I did.
So last week said oh what the heck let’s check the ol BMI......it’s 30 😞 😞 😞

In NJ, people with BMI over 25 are eligible.
Soooo I’m getting my first dose tomorrow.
