If high risk people haven't gotten it by now, then I have no sympathy for challenges caused by their own laziness. Still hearing its not so easy here in PA. Though most of the people I know who were in high priority group got it, but that's just been in the last week or 2.
March 31, 20214 yr It does seem like some states are much further along than others. Also, FEMA having mass vaccination sites complicates things because they’re obviously not following the county or state for guidance.

I thought that was crazy, I've found I have had more time to work out since the pandemic. I guess it's the sitting around and eating for most people. I gained 15 last June, but I took it all off and then some. The one good thing about this for me has been me changing my mindset and getting serious about my health. I've been exercising more than I have in ten years and eating healthier than I ever have.

Not enough allocated to heavily populated burbs and too much to the sticks. Philly is just doing there own thing I think.

I have no idea how people can eat that stuff. Looks like a sure fire heart attack.

It's a deek move not to use the surplus to vaccinate the suburbanites but you have to prove you live within the city limits.
March 31, 20214 yr Not reading through three pages, but Jersey just opened up a ton of vaccinations. I'm in IT, so technically I'm in 1C though I was willing to wait a bit. My wife works in Jersey and is for certain eligible. They don't specifically say anything on their website about PA residents not being able to get the vaccine, and you can easily sign up; my wife ended up signing me up for one in Atlantic City in a couple weeks. I'm unsure whether I should cancel the appointment or not. From what I have seen Jersey is doing WAY better and is basically knocking on the door of general availability for the state, whereas Bucks County is stuck in 1A and just doing a piss-poor job. And of course Wolf announced this accelerated plan, but I have my doubts about whether Bucks will meet that. Or if it'll just be a clusterF.

There's plenty of supply coming online. If you cancel, it may go to waste.

Apparently the FEMA sites are not that popular though. People would rather just go to CVS, Rite-Aid, or Walgreens.

Going to large vaccination sites where you have to be around hundreds or thousands of other people is unpopular during a pandemic? No one could have predicted this. The refusal to let people get this from their own doctors was a major screw-up. Most people trust their doctors and would have signed up, and doctors know who is eligible. But why use an existing distribution system when we can create a new, totally dysfunctional one?

Preaching to the choir, my wife says she doesn't want to deal with driving to the stadium, parking, waiting in lines, etc. I told her the parking deck is free, has a catwalk to the stadium, and that lines are reportedly low with wait times of 5 min or less. Apparently it's being run by the air force and they've got people moving through like clockwork. Still not interested, she says.
March 31, 20214 yr I think the rationale there is that most PCPs don't have the necessary equipment to store the vaccines.

PA is going to open to everyone in less than a month anyway. Got this via our local state senator...

I went to one run by my county, which has a population around 400,000 people or so. I thought it was pretty efficient.

I'll have first hand experience in 3 days, but everything I've read and heard about the FEMA site here is that it's the farthest from dysfunctional as you can get. There are people posting on next door that they showed up 20 min early and left before their scheduled appt time. The majority of the waiting was the 15 min observation period post-jab.

The fact you won't be getting a shot until April is what proves my point. The larger point is people TRUST their doctors. More people would get the vaccine if their doctor was involved in the process.

If it was stood up earlier, I almost certainly would've gotten my shot earlier.

March 31, 20214 yr My employer has vikas money and they treat us very well. They rolled in with doses two weeks ago and first come first serve got them. Around 250ish doses. They had the FD paramedics administer the shots in one of our break rooms. Went like clockwork. Go in in two weeks for the second round. They are releasing doses two more times to any who want them. No restrictions.
March 31, 20214 yr Just now, vikas83 said: You keep making my point. Setting this up took way too much time. Well, I think we both know the reason for that. Had we had an administration with its head anywhere other than firmly up its own ass until Jan 21st, it wouldn't have taken so long.

The smart move would have been to activate all guard and reserve units starting last March and keep them active, and then spent the entire time planning and practicing setting up vax sites.
