WR - Safe to say the following

Alshon, Desean, Ward, Goodwin, JJAW, Reagor, Hightower, Watkins

-Alshon is done here

-Ward is not a lock to make the roster

-JJAW is not a lock to make the roster

-Goodwin is not a lock to make the roster

-Reagor is a lock, and Hightower and Watkins will get every opportunity possible to make the team

-They will end up keeping 6 WR's on the active roster

-For better or worse, Howie had a clear plan here to get faster and younger at the position

While I'm not fond of Howie right now, I will say I am happy that he quadruple dipped at WR, including adding a veteran receiver. Hopefully at least 2 stick around and make a positive contribution.

I feel sorry for Ward I really do.

He finally got his chance last year and took it. Now he's facing a real battle to even make the roster.

I completely agree. That said, while a nice story he should be a depth guy if he's even on an NFL roster. I would think if he doesn't make the team he would get a shot elsewhere. Either way, I think it comes down to two spots between him, JJAW, and Goodwin. Louis Riddick said that in most drafts Hightower and Watkins are 3rd or 4th round picks so they would have to bomb to not make the team and putting them on the PS probably isn't an option.

Ward has a huge advantage over Watkins and Hightower. He has NFL experience and has shown he can be effective. These late round rookies are the ones with an uphill battle. They'll be lucky to make the practice squad.

That's true. His disadvantage though is that he wasn't a draft pick and that does matter with Howie.

How is Alshon done? His contract makes him un-tradable and un-cutable. The contracts of Alshon and DJax have them as locks to make the roster.

Maybe it matters for certain picks. 5th and 6th rounders I doubt. That late you're basically drafting your UDFA

They are 3rd or 4th round picks in the average WR draft. Right from the mouth of Louis Riddick. They want speed and they want their picks to work out. They would have to bomb to not make the team. Your last comment is so ridiculous it's funny.

He will be on the PUP list to the start the season and they will figure it out from there. He's done here.

So you think Hightower and Watkins make the roster? So who doesn't?

LOL! Louis has spoken!

This was a deep WR class but that doesn't mean all of them are quality WRs. The sure fire WRs were long gone by round 5. Greg Ward is miles ahead of those skinny speedsters.

Louis Riddick or Abracadabra......hmmmm......

Greg Ward is a barely a rosterable NFL player. Great story last year but there are a lot of people who have gotten way too carried away with him.

Done as in he's not playing so he's not a factor

He's injured and someone who knows his uncle has said they don't expect him playing this upcoming season

Woah step back step back. Why isn't Ward a rosterable player in the NFL?

I said barely. He's a 5th or 6th WR on a team with even a decent group of WR's. He averaged 9.1 ypc and had 1 TD. Let's not get carried away.

If Ward were the starter from day 1 last year, he puts up respectable numbers for a rookie. I doubt either of the late round WR are close to that level. Watkins looks to me to be the better of the two so my money is on him making the team if either do.

Our WR coaching has to be better. Hopefully, Moorehead is better than Carson Walch and David Culley.  We have good prospects but they are going to need some coaching to develop.

Ditto. He showed promise last season as a slot receiver. If he doesn't make it here, I hope he finds a home elsewhere and excels.

Your point being

riddick suggested that we would look foolish for doubting mitchell trubisky last year, in case you dont understand that tweet. In the end, he was the one looking foolish.

Oh I understand it just fine. MY POINT is that I think I will take his word on what type of value Hightower and Watkins since he does it for a living over some guy named abracadabra on a message board. Not to mention everyone on the planet said for months this is one of the deepest WR classes in draft history which reinforces him saying those two are 3rd or 4th round picks most years. If you want to side with Abracadabra on his belief that they will be ''lucky to make the PS'' then by all means.

JJAW is going to be here.  Alshon's contract isnt either or untradeable or uncutable. Unlikely injured, not impossible. He has to show that he is healthy 1st. They can cut him, they have to be willing to eat the dead money. The possible trading of him is the most difficult to guage since he isn't fully healthy yet.
