Why shouldn’t we? Liberals always complain the constitution is outdated.  So let’s update it.  The whole thing if needed.

Conservatives theoretically want to reign things in.  Throwing the libs a bone and getting back to a text based interpretation of the constitution is just a win win.

im tired of all the supreme courts bogus little theories

I mean, the man did say "We (Delawareans) Were on the South’s Side in the Civil War"

I'm down.

When you read the Constitution it’s almost in code.  It would be more accessible to people if some of the more confusing language was clarified.

fun fact:  despite the institution of slavery being the discussed throughout the Constitution, the word slavery is never used in the document

You should watch the documentary "13th”

I did, i liked it.

The constitution could use some updating.

But do any of you trust this current pack of fools to be the ones to update it? State legislatures are where the truly crazy politicians are.

Current pack of fools?  It’s only going to get worse and worse

I don’t think the current pack of fools can tie their own shoes.  There’s zero politicians that give an actual damn about our country, they all only care about their personal agendas.  If they re-wrote the constitution it would be like the reboot of Point Break

All the more reason to leave it alone.

Little known fact:  the courts use precedent in their rulings.

Any recent examples of rulings you consider a problem?

The entire doctrine of incorporation is faulty

in any case id be willing to bargain here.  We can throw in a clause granting health care in return for other strong limited government considerations

Yeah I know, right? Like what does "shall not be infringed” even mean?

Or "congress shall make no law”?  Do they mean my state legislature?  The president?

Congress is a real thing. It is not the president or a state legislature.

Indeed so why does the court apply the first amendment to the state legislatures

The privileges and immunities & due process clauses in the 14th Amendment serve as the mechanism by which they apply it. The supremacy clause (Article VI section 2) empowers and justifies the mechanism. That's my understanding of it.

Nah

The 14th Amendment is the most significant change to the Constitution.  It brought the changes that racists are the most bitter about too, which is why Trump spent so much time complaining about it.  Tbh, you don’t really need the 15th with the 14th, but Republicans wanted the 15th to alleviate any confusion.

What do "conservatives" want to reign in exactly?  The whole democracy thing?

Yup.

Anything to end the practice of large mostly empty parcels of land dictating how civilized society lives would be a good thing.
