It brought the changes that racists are the most bitter about too, which is why Trump spent so much time complaining about it. And, ironically, the 17th might be the second most significant for the opposite reason. I think the racists have a lot more Congressional power now that the trailer-park bigots get to pick a majority of Senators. Democracy has been perfected to the point where the legislature more accurately reflects the despicable character of the electorate.

The supremacy clause (Article VI section 2) empowers and justifies the mechanism. That's my understanding of it. Yes that’s how "they” apply it but "they” are wrong. The court didn’t even start doing that until the 1920s, which says something about how the amendment was even constructed Theres already a privilege and immunity clause in article four with regard to states. In that case it only means one state can’t discriminate against people from other states. It doesn’t mean that if one state has a special right that a citizen from that state can visit another state and expect that other state to uphold their own states special rights.

Far as I know there’s more than one flavor of racism. There’s the hitleresque kind and then there’s the kind like where your backwoods uncle whose never seen a black person before looks at you funny but otherwise doesn’t care ignorance <> hate

I get it that you disagree, and that's fine. I also know there's an old saying that goes "we don't know what the Constitution says until the Supreme Court tells us."

June 1, 20214 yr Less than zero interest in a new Constitution drafted by the current gang of legislators and voters. The debate would make the movie Idiocracy look prescient.

Some of their generals just threatened their politicians in an open letter, because they’re just flat out overrun by Muslim fanatics i don’t see how our country is very far behind them with how the Dems run the border and lord help us if the dollar snaps sonethings going to give, and I doubt we’re going to have the perfect set of politicians to resolve it
