First Class (McAvoy, Fassbender, JLaw, Rose Byrne, Kevin Bacon) was very well done and the sequel to that reboot/relaunch was exceptional. Their 3rd and 4th movies were pretty garbage, but again with some solid moments or character details mixed in. Logan, DP1, DP2, DPvW kind of being a separate spin-off that has a higher floor than the others.

Not sure if I ever watched the Ninja Wolverine besides some random parts. First Class was very good. That and X2 are the two best IMO. Days of Future Past was decent but a bit boring. Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix were trash, which is a shame because I liked both Arcs from the old TV show. Logan was really good, but not really an X-Men movie.

I actually just re-watched Fury Road last night since I had watched Furiosa the night prior, and that movie just flies by. Furiosa is a 2 and a half hour movie that felt like 4 hours It's such an awesome movie and does such a great job of having strong female leads without shoving it down your throat.

I saw a lot of them earlier in the year so it may be a simple yay or nay because I may not remember a lot of details. Drive-Away Dolls - I saw this one at Universal Citywalk AMC earlier in the year when I was there. The plot was borderline insane Reveal hidden contents The whole movie revolves around some secret package which is a cast of Matt Damon's dong and the runtime isn't very long. It did a good job killing 90 minutes but it wasn't a good movie. The Dry 2: Force of Nature - The first one is excellent and probably one of the best Australian films in recent memory, the second one doesn't quite hit the same mark but is a decent movie. The Colour Purple - I didn't realise the whole thing was a musical remake. Do not recommend, especially if you're not into musicals. The Bikeriders - It was a pretty good movie without being spectacular. It's captivating enough but had something missing Ricky Stanicky - Easy watch if you're after something that you can turn on and get a few laughs. John Cena surprised me with how good he was in this. Monkey Man - In my top handful of movies for the year. It was freaking awesome and I'll probably watch it again when it hits streaming. The Fall Guy - I thought going in that it was going to be below average but it really surprised me. It's similar to 21 Jump St in that it's based off an old show and was far better than it should have been. Would watch again. Civil War - I watched this one when I was pretty tired so I may have to watch it again to get a better gauge. It has some really intense scenes and may be better on the second watch. Ghostbusters Frozen Empire - Not as good as Afterlife but it was an enjoyable viewing experience. Sleeping Dogs - The story has a bit of a student movie vibe to it, but it wasn't a bad movie. It sits right around the average mark but I don't know if I would bother watching it again Love Lies Bleeding - It had really, really good potential but it is a steaming pile of ish. Challengers - This movie is as overrated as the lead. Furiosa - I have not seen Fury Road but a couple of friends wanted to see Furiosa so I ended up watching this movie twice. I enjoyed it more on the second watch Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes - Not on the same level as the Caesar trilogy, it was okay but it was slow getting into it and it was definitely missing a few layers the other ones had. If - Watchable, but don't know if I would watch it again. Boy Kills World - This movie is essentially as video game with action cranked all the way up. I really enjoyed it and would watch it again. It's also in my top handful of movies so far this year. Bad Boys Ride or Die - What you would expect from these movies, mindless, nonsensical action but there was a whole weird death vision thing which was completely out of place. Inside Out 2 - It was a pretty great movie and worth watching if you don't mind animate/Pixar stuff Beverly Hills Cop Axel F - The nostalgia ran high with this one and they did it right. If we're going for random Eddie Murphy sequels that are 30 years too late this beats Coming 2 America. I'd watch this one again. Maxxxine - I haven't watched the earlier movies (didn't even know it was a sequel) so some stuff didn't make a whole lot of sense. It wasn't a bad film and had some brutally violent scenes. I may watch the others and then go back and watch this one again to see how I feel about it. A Quiet Place Day One - They felt far more advanced than I thought they would be considering it was 'Day One'. It wasn't as good as the earlier ones but the story was good enough and you can build an emotional connection with the characters. Fly Me To The Moon - This is in the average category of movies. It feels like it has come out of the melting pot of generic but it wasn't something I felt I wasted my time or money watching. It's not something I'd probably go out of my way to watch again, but it isn't something I'd turn off or avoid if someone said 'hey lets watch this'. Borderlands - This was a real piece of crap. Don't bother Twisters - Sequels that are 30 years later and this one nails it. It was well worth watching and I'd watch it again. Surprisingly in the top handful of the year for me. Longlegs - This had potential but it gets Nic Caged with his awful overacting and nonsensical story. Deadpool & Wolverine - It's probably been covered enough, the movie was Ryan Reynolds dialled up to 1000. The longer it went the more I became invested in it before being disjointed in the end Reveal hidden contents Basically Nova wanting to destroy the worlds so everyone was stuck in the void was weird but ah well. Trap - I read that this movie is a tool to make his daughters famous and it's not far off. Saleka is an awful actress and has no business having as much screen time as she did. I would have this in the maybe if you're bored but don't expect much and turn it off with about 30 minutes to go category. The last half hour is a slog. Alien Romulus - This was an excellent movie. The cinematography and the feel were amazing, it does lose its way a little at the end but it isn't enough to drop this down. Probably the second best movie I have watched this year after Dune II Blink Twice - The first 30 minutes to an hour is like a Pleasantville/Truman Show vibe where everything seems a little off. It's by design and it gets pretty nuts after that point. Channing Tatum deserves some props because he nails it. Zoe Kravitz also does a fantastic job her first time directing. I don't know if it's a movie I would watch again but it was worth watching. seen about half your list and 100% agree on all. I liked If a little more, but my two girls freaking loved it. Personally I thought was pretty slow until end
September 5, 20241 yr The remake of The Crow - another movie no one asked for - bombed at the box office. The Director insulted fans. Hollywood has got to get off their pretentious asses thinking anytime their product sucks it's the fans fault. https://ew.com/the-crow-director-rupert-sanders-misconceptions-comic-book-influences-exclusive-8699160 Quote "The original's still there," Rupert Sanders tells EW. "I haven't recorded over anyone's VHS... This is my version of that text." and Quote "I think a lot of people are very active online and not so active in life," Sanders comments more generally about viewer reactions in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "Get out and do something and have less time throwing stones."

September 6, 20241 yr Author I don't know the source material, just the Brandon Lee one I probably shouldn't have watched 20 times as a 9-10 year old. The new film was whack and was using ancient devil possession or some nonsense.
September 7, 20241 yr Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - Full disclosure, I was never the biggest fan of the 1st one. I didn’t hate it, I just didn’t like it as much as everyone else (especially the ladies) in the late’80’s seemed to. Knowing that it’ll come as no surprise that I felt exactly the same way about this one. And it was hardly "hysterical” as the commercials claim.

There were maybe 3 parts that I briefly chuckled at. Leaving the movie, I really enjoyed it. I felt like the first 30ish min weren’t great, but the last hour definitely made up for it.
September 23, 20241 yr Just started watching Mindhunter on Netflix. Excellent show. Too bad it was cancelled. David Fincher is a genius.

October 27, 2024Oct 27 I never watched the Starship Troopers sequels before. The original is a perfect blend of b movie shlock & satire. It's fun. Watching part 2. It's sooooo bad. Just a b movie with horrible writing, acting, everything. There's boobs, and cringe so bad you might laugh. But mostly cringe. No propaganda or satire. It rips off several movies. Just awful. I've heard the other sequels are bad too, but at least Johhny Rico is back in them.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Author Watched Anora last night. Probably more tiddies and arse than The Substance, only in this movie they are constantly being flaunted, twerked, bounced, you name it! And there was a ton of laughter and well-done absurdity to keep me regularly smiling and curious about what was going to happen next. I would recommend.
November 8, 2024Nov 8 I saw Blink Twice the other night. It's pretty good, even though the beginning stalls and it takes forever to get moving. Has some Get Out vibes to it. Also watched Strange Darling a few days ago. Also a pretty good little thriller with some twists to it.

November 22, 2024Nov 22 I saw Red One the other day. It is exactly what I expected it to be - silly, action-packed, and fun. It's your typical Rock movie, and even though it got bad reviews, this was a fun movie.
