Posted April 26, 20204 yr For the last many years, ever since McLeod got hurt, I have been advocating that the Eagles draft a Safety in the second round. But considering that we were spoiled, since the Super Bowl by the presence of Jenkins and McLeod, Eagles did not draft a Safety. Now that Jenkins has left .... Eagles will try several ex CBs at safety. Surely It would have been better to draft an experienced Safety, then attempting to convert a CB to a different position. I hope that the Eagle gamble will work out....But I still place a very high value on a free safety position. The Wallace pick, while a safety, is more of the in the box safety and does not have very good covering skills. Skills that are absolutely crucial to covering fast TE and WRs. I only hope that McLeod stays healthy, throughout the season, because last time he went down, we did not have anyone with remotely the same talent in the position..

So drafting Wallace who is also a in the box safety fills that need you were looking for. Dont forget we signed Will Parks who can fill that Rodney role in injury or sub. All honestly Mills is the odd man out at safety and will prob move back into the role of outside corner where Jim likes him.
April 26, 20204 yr I’m a lot more comfortable with McLeod than I am with Mills. K’Von Wallace will hopefully show enough to take that job sooner rather than later. McLeod’s replacement can be found next offseason
April 26, 20204 yr Ideally it should be an open competition between K'von Wallace and Mills for the SS spot.

Maybe it's his idea and he'll just keep starting him. Maybe he won't like it and Mills will quickly be back to #2 CB.

April 26, 20204 yr I think our best case scenario is that Wallace beats out Mills and we can move Mills back to CB2 (whilst still hoping Jones can turn it round and beat him out). Parks is then the 3rd safety and back up to both Wallace and McLeod.

I think Mills can be a fine number two corner with some occasional over the top safety help. Asking him to be man to man with the other teams best wide receiver was a foolish game plan. He’s not the only one of their corners who suffered by that logic either.

One of the bigger criticisms on Wallace during the draft, was that he is very good in run support, but he is not that good in coverage. If he can not cover, then in my opinion he is just another waisted pick. We will see.
