For realz y’all.  She’s been an adult for a while.  I don’t care if she’s crazier than a bedbug, let her make her own decisions, and either fail or succeed, spectacularly, if that’s what she chooses to do.

It really is insane that it’s gone on this long. I heard today that she has to pay for her lawyers and theirs too. She’s likely no more crazy than about half of the country anyway. I’m at least confident that she knows what shape the earth is.

She clearly needs to be release from this Draconian Conservatorship. She should be in control of her own life at 39.

She has an IUD to prevent he from getting pregnant and they won't let her remove it or get married? It's clearly wrong.

Her father gets $16,000 per month and 2-3% income from anything she earns. It's disgusting.

Getting beyond the schadenfreude and comedy, this whole thing is completely abhorrent. The idea that our legal system can deny someone basic rights like this, with no public finding of mental incompetence, is utterly disgusting. I don't care if Britney is looney tunes -- unless she is declared completely mentally unfit (which is a VERY high bar) and can challenge that determination, there is no reason anyone should support this massive overreach.

I couldn't care less about Britney Spears, but I do care about handing the court system this kind of unchecked power.

I just read the transcript. The judge stopped her twice and requested she slow down so that the court reporter could get everything.  She clearly is damaged mentally to some capacity so this judge is going to have a difficult decision, in my opinion.  I'm not sure her request to not be evaluated will be honored before ending this.

Conservatorships are for people who are totally incapacitated, can't take care of themselves and have no hope for a recovery. It's not for people who have treatable mental health issues and who are employed. Also, they don't usually last this long. While she will need a mental health evaluation the Judge needs to allow her to control her own life. 13 years is absurd.

It's also for fathers who want to leech off their wealthy kids apparently.

Yeah, he gets $16,000 per month, and 2-3% of all her earnings. It's no wonder why he has kept her a prisoner for 13 years. Money.

She will have to be evaluated.  This conservatorship would not have been granted in the first place if there wasn't just cause for her inability to take care of herself-ie a diagnosis of some sort.  If there's improvement than yes, end it.

And this is what it's all about.  Her father is getting paid, and the doctors involved in perpetuating this charade are getting paid.  I don't want to cast aspersions on the judges involved with evidence, so I won't.

Right, her father gets paid with her money, and the doctors are not chosen by her, she has no say in her own medical care. One thing is for sure, while she may have mental health issues,  her mental health issues do not, at this time, totally incapacitate her that would necessitate a Conservatorship. Oh, and this is the first opportunity she has been permitted to speak to the Judge in more than 2 years. She is clearly more than competent to manage her finances, and determine her own medical health care. Frankly, I'm surprise the Conservators allowed her to obtain legal representation. It's all about Money.

She was allowed to speak to the court during the reviews of the conservatorship.  In the past, she choose not to.  Or at least that's how I understand it.  I guess  I just want to know how/why a judge has determined this is still necessary?  Maybe because she didn't know she could speak out or petition to end this.  Plus there are a lot of sealed documents that we don't know.

Anyway, not that I care that much, but if the thing was set up years ago as an emergency, then reviewed, again and again, and kept in place then why?  Is it only because she never spoke her wishes to the court?  The court does ask her each time, right?

No, they don't. She tried to hire lawyers and the conservatorship wouldn't let her, so she got some crappy court appointed lawyer. She's been railroaded for years.
