My dad was cheap. We were in the 600 level.

That was the first time you told someone to "try not being so poor", wasn't it?

No way. I just learned that I never wanted to live that way.

At an Eagles game?

So it was (un)intentional good parenting then.

Just in general. I hated always being told we couldn't afford things as a kid. Truth is, we were solid middle class, and even upper middle class when I was in high school. But my dad was responsible -- no debt, large 401k and paid for my college with no loans. It was great parenting, and I am thankful for it.

It taught me that you have to earn much more in order to do all that AND not have to make compromises.

I think we were in the 500 level.

That is fair. I am pretty much your dad so I guess this means my kids will grow up to tell me I'm poor

Thanks.  That's the one, and it was also a low scoring game if I remember right.

Yeah.  I remembered it was low scoring but had to look it up to see the exact result which I couldn't remember.  It was 10-9 Eagles.

Honestly, I constantly thank him for it. He did incredibly well for an immigrant who moved almost 8,000 miles, knew nobody, and just had to work to get ahead.

In his own elementary words

I was in the 700 level.  Even young, solid middle class Vikas would have looked down on me as poor.

Looks like Georgia may not matter.  Win Arizona, and Nevada.  Huge chunk of mail in ballots about to drop, and we know who those are gonna be for.

I was looking for tickets to the Eagles - Steelers game, but the prices were insane.

Four of us stayed in the parking lot with all the beer and food, and the party bus parked nearby put up a big screen TV in the shade a few feet away from us. Perfect day. Hoagies from Maranuccis, tomato pie from Corpolese, snick-snacks from Claudio's on 9th street. Endless beer.

What was the plan if you didn't happen to be by a party bus?

I spent many a game up there for both Eagles and Phillies.
