August 24, 20214 yr My advice to anyone who wants to get into government work…. Take it for what it is for the benefits and then get a gig on the side. For us, Real estate seem to work. But that will change at some point also. But as far as benefits go, my co-pays are peanuts and I can retire in eight years.

It's annoying. I just tell them I need a million cash. Still waiting on one to bite. Any day now!

We found the water heater was 13 years past its lifecycle and also the furnace was a bit old, so we came in under. They countered at 5k under asking which we accepted. As for appraisals, our pre-approval had an appraisal wavier and we were conditionally approved with it. We bought it in 1/2018 and between the market and the renovations I did, it doubled in value. Crazy out there.

It's absolutely insane. I was planning on finishing the upstairs this year into a in-law suite which would add another 600 sq ft but with the construction material price boom I thought I'd hold off on it until things come back to reality. I'm just not sure when that will be. Price of the project probably doubled in the last year or so at this point.
