Eric Wilson didn’t look that great to me. Almost every time I saw him he was missing a tackle. He ain’t the answer

Well let's see. That was his first game and he's working in a new scheme. Let's see how he does the next few weeks before determining he ain't the answer.

He did miss some tackles, but we knew that wasn't his strength. There were small mistakes all over the defense, but ultimately they bailed each other out time and again.

Don't care how good the Falcons are. To hold them to two early FGs is a damn good showing for the defense as a whole.

Agreed it was very much a team performance especially on defense. I don't think any single player stood out above everyone else? It was a team performance all around.

Completely agree with you here that was very very impressive. To hold any team to just 2 FGs (on their first 2 drives too) is just flat out impressive. And Atlanta have talent on offense. Pitts is going to be a stud, Ridley is a stud, Hurst is a pretty good TE and they had a decent run game.

Feels different to have two real corners on the outside, though. Team win or not. 😄

Yeah that's very true. I don't think Slay is necessarily a top CB but it is nice to know we don't really have to worry about our outside corners. Like they'll give up plays of course but we don't have to full on worry about them.

I hate doing this but @EagleVA was right about getting Watikins in there. The guy is a straight up playmaker

I'm trying to figure out what he did wrong, after the first drive I only saw him on the field again for 1 - 2 plays.

I wonder whether they want to use him in a specific way and Atlanta were starting to shut that down?

No, that wasn't the case because after the first drive Watkins wasn't even on the field, I didn't see him on the field again until the second half for one or two plays.

I seemed to me this was a message to Reagor, I don't think he was on the field for the first drive but played most of the remainder of the game.

Wilson IMO was the worst player on our team yesterday.

If it was a message, he responded loud and clear. I thought he had a good game for a #2 receiver

True but apparently missed tackles is he thing. Vikings fans have let me know this as well

Although it didn’t matter the intentional grounding by Ryan should’ve been ruled a backwards pass which is basically a fumble.

Singleton was bad too.

Could be this or because the Falcons seemed to be coming after Hurts pretty hard in the second half. It looks like they were running more 2 tight end sets for more max protect or safety valves for Hurts to get the ball out too.

Anyways good game by Watkins look forward to seeing more

Believe it or not, I also believe Sirianni thinks he can hide Watkins until big games appear on the schedule.

That's also why I think he didn't play the starters in preseason, he was trying to hide his game plans......sneaky guy that Sirianni.

You will not see those guys this week. But you can gar-own-TEE they will surface as soon as he has a bad quarter with the I told ya so's..screaming for the Stach guy.

Hurts was only the 3rd QB in NFL history to complete 70+% of his passes, toss 3 TDs, toss for 250+ yrds, rush for 60+ yrds, 0 INTs.

Pretty sure it was usmc green. Last season he was shtting on hurts and never had anything positive to say.

Once I said man probably creams himself when hurts has a bad game and he reported me for sexual harassment.

I agree with you, but I also know he led the Vikings in missed tackles last season too. He made a lot, but he also missed a lot. Too soon to make any judgments for sure, but I’d like to see the defense as a whole sure up some of those tackles. On a side note I saw Slay sticking his head in there and making tackles. The corners were pretty good in coverage too.

If only there were a time to work on tackling before the season started...

When it comes to Wilson I kind of doubt it would matter. K’von Wallace had a lot or preseason snaps and he was out there missing tackles too.

It's the whole.league, tackling sucks and they want it that way it leads to more offense. No one wants to lose their offensive starters to bums trying to make the team by taking out another teams or your teams best offensive weapons.

There is no secret to this. Playing a handful of snaps in the preseason with a bunch of nobodies isn't going to cure bad tackling.

Man PFF gave Ryan Kerrigan a higher grade than Fletcher Cox. Did anyone actually see him play?
