Without going into too much detail about 2020 season that I have missed all together. which was probably the best thing for me anyway. I have been listening to Merril since the early 80s I moved to Texas 2017 yes I got rid of my season tickets and of course that's the year they go to the Super Bowl. I've been watching watching them on DirecTV except for last year. When I did watch them on DirecTV. I was always able to go to my desktop and turn on w i p and get Merill and Mike this past Sunday I did the same thing I've done now for five years and a ten of 12 which is really 10 of one in Philly area. It went to commercials by 12 Central Time I realized I got disconnected. I am just curious is the NFL now making us pay for the home team announcers when we live out of state. It would be great if someone else who lives out of state that also listens to the game live with Merril & Mike like I do . Would let me know how to do for 2021 .

Ps i lookeed around at other areas on here and could not find the answer.

Thanks

They used to do both teams broadcast on Sirius. Then again the last time I listened to it Sirius was separate from XM.

Just checked yes they do.

I get Merrill and Mike on https://www.audacy.com/94wip. I don't believe I have to use my VPN, set to Philly but if you do, Windscribe has Philly servers.

Not to hi-jack the OP's thread, but you having any luck lately with being able to stream the games? I remember on the old board we had talked about using PS Vue when it was still around and just giving it a Philly location until that stopped working. Curious if any of the others work via VPN? I know when I tried it with Youtube TV (I think) awhile back it used the billing address from my credit card for my home location so even a VPN wouldn't work.

After Vue died, I switched to FuBo. That worked just like Vue for a while, then they began banning some VPNs. I use Windscribe, and that works. But often times (almost all of the time), FuBo doesn't see the Philly IP address as being in Philly. It shows up as Oklahoma or something like that.

No problem there, though. I set a 'season pass' to all Eagles games, so it automatically records Eagles games to my FuBo DVR. So when the game starts, instead of watching the live channel, I go into the DVR and watch the recording (as it's recording). I can't do that on my PC, because it won't play until after the game is over (so far), but I installed FuBo onto my Roku and when I go to the DVR on that, it plays. I just fast forward all the way to where it's 'live', and the game plays just fine.

"Hotspot Shield" VPN also has a Philly server, but their Philly IP Address is completely banned. But I use that to be able to see the Philly Channel guide. From there, I can schedule future shows/games. I just can't watch anything using that VPN. Only to schedule things to record.

If that was confusing, let me know and I can type out a 'step by step' of exactly how I do it.

It makes sense but damn that’s a lot more effort than I was hoping for  One of these days I’m just gonna break down and get DirecTV.

Yeah, it used to be a lot easier. But I want NBC Sports Philadelphia, too... though, they've basically cancelled all Eagles related shows other than Pre and Postgame live. Quickslants used to be great, but they stopped that back at the beginning of the pandemic.

That whole process would be a lot easier, though, if I could get them to reliably recognize the Philly IP from Windscribe. But they likely have a way of scrambling it so it doesn't work right. Doesn't matter though, I can bounce around the country and find a way to watch what I want, if need be. lol

I got tired of messing with it and all these damn streaming and subscription services, got Xfinity. I couldn't be happier to just turn on the TV and it just works.

Yeah I just literally don’t watch anything on TV other than sports. And I don’t live in the Philly area… all I get are New England/Boston sports here. Sooo, my only option other than streaming is Directv with ticket.

Well word on the street is Amazon is getting the ticket next year so you might want to hold off

IIRC the NFL started putting in a TV delay after the SB "wardrobe malfunction" during the half time show. Although there were easy tricks to get the TV broadcast synced up with the radio broadcast. I stopped trying after I got a DVR and got in the habit of pausing and rewinding the game. Now I use a streaming service (Hulu live) and that causes even more random delays. However, because of DVR I am more likely to step away from the TV and listen to the WIP broadcast (I stream through my amazon Alexa via audacy) until I can get back in front of the TV. I find that, at least when they are playing 1PM games, that I'm doing more listening to WIP then watching live on the TV.

I had the same issue when I went to see the Phillies play at CBP. I was hoping to listen to the NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcasters as I watched the game but the delay was so long it was pointless. I wasn't able to come up with a way to pause the live game to get things synced up closer 🥴

I miss all of the Eagles related shows on NBC Sports Philadelphia! Now D Gun is gone from Pre\Post Ggame shows too and I always enjoyed his post game interviews and analysis, particularly some of his insider rumor mill stuff. Just the other day I deleted all of the shows that were set to record on my DVR that are no longer on the air. Other than Phillies games I only turn it on for the Eagles pre and post game shows. Even then it doesn't get the attention I use to give it. It's only a shell of what it was when it was Comcast.
