September 19, 20214 yr Sweat impressed me last year. I know Chris Long has said in the past that Josh Sweat is a special talent, and if he can put it all together he can be a force. Fletcher Cox said something similar, I’ve read/heard similar things from other NFL players. His ceiling is sky high and he’s still extremely young. I’m glad they extended him over Barnett, he could wind up being a huge bargain for this team. Him and Mailata can definitely be talented parts of the Eagles core going forward, I’m glad they were re-signed. Hopefully they don’t regress.

Last year was a Covid induced outlier. With people back in the stands and an added regular season and 2 extra play off games, the owners have no excuse to keep the cap low.
September 19, 20214 yr I guess that's the going rate but it sure is a lot of money, 13 mil a year, for a guy with modest production.

It's been the team's modus operandi since Joe Banner. Chip Kelly threw a monkey wrench into this, and Howie got off track following the SB, but all in all, it's SOP for the Eagles. 1 hour ago, EazyEaglez said: With people back in the stands and an added regular season and 2 extra play off games, the owners have no excuse to keep the cap low. I think the cap is pretty much an accounting matter.

Salaries are going up and the NFL is probably about to receive a huge financial boom this season. The players can’t give the owners more games, but take less money. I will say I was a little shocked the players were willing to still have only 53 man rosters considering Covid plus added games.

They actually do. The agreement to keep the cap lower in future years vs bottoming out this year because of lost revenue. The cap is based off revenue. They don’t just pick an arbitrary number.
