Didn't realize One Second After was a series. The first one was awesome. Alas Babylon was written way earlier, but was very similar IIRC. Both great reads.

  • One Year After: A John Matherson Novel
  • The Final Day: A John Matherson Novel

personally i didn't get past a few chapters of the first book, a little too real for me.

The new Stephen King is a collection of short stories called "You like it Darker". I can't put it down. It's so good.

I loved Danny Coughlins bad dream and Answerman the most. Rest of book is decent, nothing special, but solid

Danny Coughlin's Bad Dream is one of the best short stories I ever read. I also really enjoyed Rattlesnakes. It was creepy as hell.

I started reading the Scythe series on a trip.  Got through the first book on the flight out.  Got the second and third books for a recent vacation and am halfway through the third book.  I really enjoy this series.

Quick plot, for those who are interested.  Basically it’s a future timeframe when technology/medicine is so advanced that it’s almost impossible to die.  To help control population, there’s a group of people called Scythes who are able to permanently kill someone (if someone dies another way, they can be revived).  The first book follows a Scythe and two people who are chosen to be apprentices to become a Scythe.

Going to reiterate Dungeon Crawler Carl is one of the best series I’ve ever read. Explained earlier in thread, but every single person I’ve gotten to read it has thanked me.

Next set of books to read

I've got into audible and really like it. Currently listening to the Vampire Chronicles

Audible is great. Just finished the latest Stephen King "Never Flinch" not one of his best, but a good read beginning to end. I promised my kids I would read the Harry Potter books before going to Universal next month, so I'm flying through those. The first one starts out painfully slow but gains steam. I'm on the 4th one. Enjoying them a lot more than I thought I would. I see lots of parallels with Star Wars.

I remember the summer I was 14. Enjoy the memories!

Cannot more heavily recommend Dungeon Crawler Carl. Best series Ive read. Silly engaging and action packed.

I read the first one. It was ok.

rereading World War Z for the 4th (?) time. still refreshing, and an astonishingly well written novel.

Max's father (Mel Brooks) always had humanity hidden in plain site in his movies and i think Max carries that torch in WWZ.

It's a book on a an enemy without a need for Humanity literally eating away at Humanity and our own humanity.

Has a Ready Player One vibe to it and that was lame.
