Eagles really throwing a lot at the DB wall and hoping something sticks.

They wouldn't have to take that approach if they could only draft worth a ish at the position.  They only CB they've drafted that has played decently is Maddox and that is only because they finally moved him back to the slot where he belongs (he is not an outside corner).  The last even somewhat decent outside CB we've drafted is sadly Lito and Sheldon ... that will be 20 years ago this upcoming draft.  That's crazy!

I agree. It feels like foreshadowing of the next draft. The Eagles like to throw a lot of picks at positions, but I think I’d rather they do more for safety and linebacker.

Certainly not from a lack of trying. They have thrown a lot of picks at corner too. It just hasn’t really worked out for them.

Another DB when it’s already a loaded area right now? Must be thinking of the future since we know Nelson won’t be back next year.

Depends on what you consider "trying".  They have drafted very few corners with their first or second pick, even if it was a massive need.

All CBs drafted in the past 10 years:

2021: McPhearson (4th)

2018:  Maddox (4th)

2017: Jones (2nd)

2017: Douglas (3rd)

2015: Rowe (2nd)

2015: SHepherd (6th)

2015: Evans (6th)

2014: Watkins (4th)

2012: Boykin (4th)

So the answer is 2?  Two CBs drafted in the first two rounds in the last 10 years.

Yep.  Not a whole lot invested for a team that supposedly values CBs 2nd to only DL on defense.

On top of that, one of those was a CB that was drafted with an injury that would take a year to heal...maybe.  Even when they took a shot, it was a risky gamble that in this case, didn't work out.

Had he been healthy, the answer would have been one.

Thank you, exactly, and I don't consider that "trying".  The only logical conclusion from this is that the position is an afterthought most of the time regardless if it is the biggest weak spot on the team.

maybe we traded for this guy because his name looks like Troy Vincent

It's criminal how Howie does this and then still trades for guys who were also late picks, to stockpile these guys hoping one

or to works out. Then the clueless Howie followers say well look how he hit on that guy late...definition of insanity.

I don't really care how they get here if they can play. Some guys, usually late rounders, need time to develop. That list you quoted seemed to have forgotten Mills for some reason. He was no All-Pro or anything, but had more success than the rest of the bunch to date. When you look at the current state of the Eagles, you have to be concerned about the defense and we need to find the guys that will be taking over for Slay, Nelson, and maybe Maddox. In a season that appears to be heading nowhere, it makes sense to bring in a couple young prospects and evaluate them in practice. We still have to wait until April to get anybody not currently in the NFL, so it's strange to complain about a low-cost move like this.

To many CB;s & not a great cover guy in the bunch.☹️

Personally I think they should draft more defensive linemen higher than they have lately. They haven’t really invested in the line at all. It’s like Barnett, Marcus Smith (who was actually a linebacker) and then Fletcher Cox. That how little they have invested on the defensive line with talent. They have been living in the past for years.
