All extensions to solid under the age of 30 players. Good stuff.

Not just under 30.  Everyone is 26 or younger.  Goedert (26), Maddox (25), Sweat (24) & Mailata (24).

The Sweat signing is looking questionable with the early returns though.

It shouldn't. He's a slot, Nelson is a temporary band aid, and they need young defensive talent at any position badly.

He is 28 and playing well. Not stellar, but given how bad our CBs were for a very long time, do we really want to let him go?

Yeah I understand that. But given Eagles draft history, mixed in with Slay having another year on the deal & McPhearson being there. They might not have it high on their priority list.

I would hope having used a 4th last year on McPhearson wouldn't prevent them from addressing CB earlier, but I also understand the concern.  For a team that preaches the importance of the position, they really haven't invested top picks on it.  The last time they spent a day 1 or day 2 pick on CB will be 5 years ago (2017 - a 2nd on Jones and 3rd on Douglas).  Other than that the only other time they spent a pick before day 3 in the past 10 years was on Rowe (2015).  With 3 (currently projected) 1st rd picks, I sure hope they buck that trend and use one of our top picks on a CB this year.  We need elite young talent.  If we miss out on Stingley then I am hoping for Booth later in the 1st (or possibly even our 2nd).

I think if either Horn or Surtain would have been there, we might have picked them over Smith. Glad we didn‘t, but I don‘t think they don‘t value the position. It‘s just how the drafts played out.

Not necessarily, but i want them to draft good corners for once to develop future.

Ideally, this isn‘t an either-or.

It is if Howie thinks "we're fine there" and doesn't draft a corner high.

Now I have visions of Howie taking a few bong rips before he puts on a blindfold and pulls an index card with a name on it out of a fishbowl on draft day.
