AT bare minimum Kerrigan should have replaced Graham's sack productivity, they are both the same age with Kerrigan having the lesser injury history..

Kerrigan's production being what it is, is all on Gannon..  I see him running around covering RBs, standing up instead of having his hands down on the ground when lined up as a DE and just flat out looking lost out there...

This D has a lot more potential than what it is currently showing..

That's cause kerrigan was an outside rush linebacker in a 3-4 his whole career why the F would you sign a guy like.that to play in a 4-3 zone scheme? Gannon could definitely find a way to.get him more involved but, he wasn't a fit to begin with so that's on Howie for giving a rookie coach a player that isn't a fit and try to figure out how to use him when you don't even know how.the rest of the players fit what you want to do.

But Kerrigan played in Rivera's 4-3 last season and had 5.5 Sacks though ? That too in a limited role starting only 1 game.

They don't have a position listed for him last year. He came off the bench so I don't know.about last year. Either way you don't get guys that don't really fit your scheme for a rookie defensive coordinator trying to figure sheet out is all.im.saying.

Brandon Graham is currently signed through 2026, a significant cap hit the next 2 years, unless they wait until after June 1st to cut him. Howie once again kicked the can down the road on an older player who is now being paid to sit on IR and is on the decline.

Those are void years though, he’s really only signed through 2022

I agree but I just cant give Gannon a pass for this, both Howie and Gannon are at fault here..

I think I remember most being against Driscoll also

Basically, that line was atrocious all the way around last year so when the majority of your 5.5 sacks comes against that line he wasn't really worth a damn last year either

That’s a good point.  I guess just another example of a Howie failure in putting together a roster with players that are logical fits.

Kerrigan has to be the biggest waste of space signing ever. Barnett will probably be gone as well. I'm sure Graham will be back on possibly his farewell season

Not sure how many picks in the first 3 rounds we have, but if 5 I hope 4 of them at least will go to Defense...but we know who is drafting so I wont be surprised we taking QB, WR and Oline/TE...and at least one of them as a 3 years project...

Agreed, I kinda felt like he was going to play the chris long role. Kerrigan is that guy you bring fresh off the bench to take advantage of a fatigued O-line. He isnt necessarily a spark plug, but he still has juice and his technique is excellent. They are wasting him by not playing him right.

He made a career off sacking Eagles quarterbacks.

Barnett made a few plays last week but overall he’s yet another draft bust. I could see him all of a sudden having the best stretch of his life, 5 or 6 sacks to end the season, only to have the Eagles resign him long term and then go back to bust status. Seems like the typical script.

He will be long gone when we pick. Book it.

Barnett can walk. Would prefer to spend a first on DE.

Kerrigan should have been a good signing.  I don’t think Gannon knows what he is doing yet, how to properly scheme to the strengths of his players (which is ironic considered that is what he was preaching after being hired).  We went from ranking 3rd in the league in sack total last year to being one of the worst this season by basically trotting out the same personnel (minus Graham).

In defense of Gannon our safeties suck, and it is a new defensive scheme this year and a new learning  curve. If the choice is to protect the backfield vs more pressure .. It is to protect the backfield against the big plays...anytime. I don't know..but...Kerrigan..unfortunately might have lost a step..which is probably why he was let go.

I think the Eagles need to draft AT LEAST 2 defensive lineman early and possibly also sign a free agent this coming offseason. Barnett and Kerrigan can hit the road. I like Sweat but so far in his career it seems like he's most productive in spurts and not playing full time. Hopefully one of the late draft picks from last year steps up and can fill the void along with getting BG back but I wouldn't want to chance it.

Yeah I certainly wouldn't be against that to be honest. I think they need 2 DEs and a DT. I don't really care how they go about doing that in the off season but that's what they need.

He has salary into 2023, and those void years would cost $26.5million dead cap if we cut him next season, $18million if we cut in 2023.  He's uncuttable and untradeable (no one is taking on that sort of liability for a 34 year old DE coming off an achilles rupture).

Technically there are massive salaries in the late years of the contract that will guarantee if Graham is on the roster on the 2nd day of the 2023 league year. The reason for this instead of the void is to allow the Eagles to use a June 1 cut provision in 2023 and split the remaining dead money in the contract between 2023 and 2024.

They structured it the same way as Kelces contract. He’ll be here next year and then will be cut/retire with a post June 1st in 2023
