time2rock Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Carson Wentz trade about to get much better for Eagles By Greg Joyce December 5, 2021 10:36am The Carson Wentz trade is about to hit the jackpot for the Eagles. When the Colts acquired the quarterback in March, they sent the Eagles a 2021 third-round pick and a 2022 conditional second-round pick that could become a first-round pick if Wentz played 75 percent of the team’s snaps this season. Wentz could clinch that mark Sunday against the Texans, NFL.com reported, if he plays every snap as expected in the Colts’ 13th game of the season. Entering Sunday, Wentz had played 792 snaps out of a possible 804, good for 98.51 percent. The Colts are averaging 67 offensive snaps per game, so if Wentz plays all of them Sunday, it would bring him to 859 snaps. Even if he somehow does not take another snap after Sunday, it still would likely be enough to clinch the 75 percent mark, figuring the Colts are on track for about 1,139 snaps. Carson Wentz’s playing time with the Colts is going to be a boon for the Eagles in the 2022 NFL Draft. Getty Images That’s good news for the Eagles, especially since the Colts came into Sunday only 6-6 and are currently projected to have the No. 14 pick in the 2022 NFL draft, according to Tankathon. It could give the Eagles three picks in the top 15 as they also have their own pick and the Dolphins’, courtesy of a trade down in the 2021 draft. Wentz, after spending the first five years of his career in Philadelphia, has played well for the Colts. The 28-year-old entered Sunday having completed 62.8 percent of his passes for 2,790 yards, 21 touchdowns, and five interceptions. The Eagles, meanwhile, turned to Jalen Hurts as their full-time starter after trading Wentz. The second-year QB had completed 60.1 percent of his passes for 2,435 yards, 13 touchdowns, and eight interceptions — plus 122 rushes for 695 yards and eight touchdowns — through 12 games. https://nypost.com/2021/12/05/carson-wentz-snap-count-will-make-eagles-trade-even-better/
